My last car was a 98 T/A 6-speed. My current car is a 96 LT4 Vette. It is BS to say a Vette's IRS hurts it at the drag strip. It is better unless you are talking about cars that make like 700rwhp+. I could never get below a 2.0 60' with street tires (even 315s) with the T/A. It was tough to do that! With the Vette I could consistantly get 1.9x on street tires. It was fairly easy. With the T/A I had real trouble keeping the car from going sideways on the 1-2 shift. The Vette does that a little only with powershifting.
It is true that ALL LT4 Vettes are 6-speeds and only made in 1996. It is also true that they are underrated like the LS1s. Most stock LT4 Vettes make 300rwhp. My Vette with stock trim weighed 3300lbs. It is the early model C4 that were lighter.
The LS1 pulls better above 4k rpm. I think the LS1 car in the case has the edge if both drivers are at the same skill level. The 4.10s are going to help a lot. To get a stock LT4 Vette in the 12s, you have to powershift AND be a great driver. Most Vette drivers can't do that. The first time I did the 1/4 mile in the Vette when stock I got a 13.0 @ 106mph w/1.9x 60'. It is just an easier car to drive for me. I know a lot about fbodies as have owned them prior to the Vette for about 15 years.
My vote goes to the LS1 for this race and I bet the Vette driver gets a 13.3 @ 105mph.

It sounds to me like you are trying to be an A$$. No offense intended.
Besides, I beg to differ on the statement that crank HP is meaningless.
An LT4 vette probably wouldnt average a higher dyno then an m6 LS1 car.

Your blanket statement of "I disagree.LT4's make 330." was wrong and worthless for comparisons, just as he was pointing out the 305hp rating of the LS1 was worthless for comparisons...

Negative...trying to work out some problems with my 12 bolt right now. Just got it installed but I'm getting an unusual hollow clunking sound around turns. Almost sounds like the driveshaft hitting something but will be putting it on the lift to look at it today

Then again, I haven't seen a bone stock LS1 fbody handing me my behind yet, but haven't had the car too long.
If luck goes well, I will be at GM Hi-Tech's supercar shootout with the LT4 Hawk, and for those who think 12's aren't possible with the car or that it's not under-rated, well, you may be surprised.

Also, would you say that 108 trap in a stock LS1 is average? I'd say hell-no if you've been to fbody events watching LS1's run. In fact, I'd say it's more like 104-105, and usually right around 13.5's to 13.1's, depending on driver.
I will say this, if the LT4 Vette is stock, and the LS1 is modded and running up to snuff for its mods, it would be very hard to imagine the LT4 car winning that race. However, if the LT4 has bolt-ons, I think the 4.10's ain't gonna make too much a difference. It will be a driver's race.
Is the LS1 also gonna be on sticky tires?
