I was out just cruisin around and was talking to a guy at the local BW3's late one night. I told the guy i was just lookin for a race something and he mentioned he knew a guy with a black vette that would race me and he said he would drive over there and get him. As they drove away they were laughing and smercking like they knew I was gonna get killed or something. These guys were in a v6 Mustang so that gives u any idea. Well they come back with the Vette guy right behind them and he pulls up and he was a really cool guy, said he had just bought the car and didnt really know how it would do against me. We told him that my car was stock except for exhuast. So we go out and line up and my friend flags us and we are gone, I instantly started pulling away and was at least a good 5-6 car lengths in front when i let off. I know its an older Vette but it was an l98 which I know are good torque motors. So after we are done he has me pull over in a parking lot so we can talk. He gets out and was amazed that I pulled on him that bad bc he said he had raced a firebird around my year and pulled on him so he didnt think it would be that bad. Well finally after him asking me if I was sure I didnt have any other mods I gave in and fessed up. He was kewl about it and said good race and took off. I wish all races could be like that. LOL, i dont ever tell my mods till after the race. I dont want to scare off a potential kill by gloating about my car and him deciding not to run for fear of losing. He said the firebird that he raced before me was an lt1. It could have been, before my gears and tune I pull 3 cars on a 6-speed lt1 trans am.

 

Don't take any offense, but I hate when people lie about their mods. It takes the fun out of it. I raced a guy a few years back in a 95 Z28 and he said all he had was roller rockers, yet somehow he stayed dead even with my 435 rwhp Supra TT on the highway. I was hating on my car until we stopped and I noticed the stainless braided line coming out near his fuel tank. He drove off before I could call his bs though. Found out the next week he was running a 200 shot. I understand not wanting to scare off a potential kill, but if you don't come clean after the kill, then you're just being an *** and trying to make the other guy feel like sh*t. I paid the guy back though. I had a mutual friend let him know that my car was a 100% stock...which of course, it wasn't

I dont take offense to it. I understand where your coming from. I always eventually tell all my mods once everything is done. This guy was real kewl about it. Shook my hand before the race and said good luck. Unless the other driver is a complete dick about his car and such I wouldnt tell them. I just dont want the word getting out about everything done to my car bc here in Kokomo I probably have about the fastest lt1 in town other then my best friends and a supercharged one that I know of. I always tell the people I race about the cam and stuff that I am about to put in. Its all in good fun.
