We usually try to borrow a trailer when we go (especially when we've taken the '73 Camaro). This worked out well on more than one occasion. Once with my '81 Z28 years ago, the master cylinder for the brakes failed while I was at the track (took the entire run-off to get slowed down! ) and then 2 years ago we blew BOTH U-joints, as well as the 4-speed T-10 in the '73, all on one hard launch!!! The tranny case split, the bellhousing cracked, and the output shaft bent!? Good thing for the trailer/tow-vehicle!

Last summer, my buddy blew a CV joint in his Honda, but unfortunately we had no trailer that night, so it cost him about ~$300 to get his car flat-bedded the ~2-1/2 hour trip home.

I had the exact same problem with my stock shifter. Piece of junk. G/F got me a Pro 5.0 for my birthday, no missed shifts since.
