Not by much though. Maybe a few tenths. Best stock Cobra time i've heard is 12.4. What is the best stock Z06 time?

Ram that b!tch into 3rd and give 'em hell next time!

Same here, but I have the GT and I mod the car because of the LS1.

How much does the avg Cobra weigh in at? I read some where that the '05 GTs are around 3800lbs w/ 300HP? There's a doctors son that run's around town in a '03 Cobra w/ 40 dollar chrome tribal stickers going down the side of it... can't wait to catch him on the street one night just to see how well I can hang with him in nearly stock trim

I can't wait til the '05s come out... they definately have a unique look, it's going to be fun to give them a run or two

'05 will be under 3500 pounds, probably closer to 3400.

Should run with a GTO, tick behind LS1. All speculation until they start hitting the track.

There was a big article in I think Motor Trend, about how the stock new cobras where slower then a new sti. Does anyone know what I am talking about?

the 05s are supposed to weigh somewhere in the neighborhood of 3350-3400. the variable valve timing should help them out too, give them a little nicer tq band up top than what you would think a normal 300 hp car would have.

as for running with a cobra, I guess whatever it takes to trap 112. Most likely a full bolt on LS1 pushing about 350rwhp (avg. weight).

That was the Jan 04 issue of Hot Rod (no, I don't subscribe). Went something like this....

WRX Sti - 13.29 @ 100.5 mph
Road Course - 1:21.0 secs
Curb - 3,263 lbs
300 hp @ 6,000
300 tq @ 4,000
Boost - 14.5 psi max
$30,995

Cobra - 13.30 @ 109.0 mph
Road Course - 1:22.7 secs
Curb - 3,665 lbs
390 hp @ 6,000
390 tq @ 3,500
Boost - 8 psi max
$33,125

AWD is a neat thing on true street tires. Put some stickies on each and see what happens (look at the MPH for each).

A lightly modded LS1 will run with a stock Cobra no problem. I have seen the dyno numbers and track times of each in person. I raced on at the track back when I made 368rwhp/336rwtq. He had Pulley, CAI, shifter, and catback. He trapped1.5mph more than me (114.5mph to his 116mph). Not too shabby for a 1000 in bolt-ons. If I was tuned to the 383rwhp/353rwtq I would have trapped 116-117mph.

03 Cobras make gobbs of power, they are just pigs when they roll on the scale. Thats why I could run so close to a pullied cobra (he was probably making 420rwhp or so, and I had just under 370rwhp). The driver was probably 250lbs, so his car probably weighed in at 4000lbs w/driver. My ride is 3500lbs with me and 2 gallons of gas

Power to weight.

Good driver vs good driver the Cobra will kill an SS even with bolt ons.....

I raced the older Cobra before they put the blowers on them at River City Raceway....it was stock minus mabe exhaust...he ran 13.5@105mph.....thats just as fast as 90% of the LS1 cars I've seen go....(close to stock of course..)

There was a woman in GMHTP with a 00 T/A. Headers, cutout, 4500 stall and like a lid and something else and she runs mid 11s all day long. I think that car is more than enough to whoop a cobra and everything in it is a bolton Am I retarded? No.

How much time do you spend@the track ? I see LS1's with very few bolt ons running 11's . I have a friend with a 2001 with less then 500 bucks in the intake and he is runing mid 12's all day long . I have another friend that hit 12's BONE stock . And I have a friend who runs low 12's all day long with very few bolt ons . WHat do you think it takes to run with that car ? If bolt ons wont do it , what do you think will ? A bore and stroke ? Heads and cam ? boost ? Im suprised at how little some people know of these cars . The LS1 engine is amazing . There are guys running 11's with just a little bit of money in their LS1's . There are LS1's with mild cams and headers putting down 390hp to the wheels on the dyno . I think all LS1 m6's can hit 12's stock . I know mine would w/traction . Ill prove that one in a month when the clutch goes in .
The 03 bora's are Very fast cars in pure stock form . But LS1's can easily hit the same numbers with light mods . Stock for stock , typical/average numbers are very close . Cobra's run a few tenths faster on average at the track .

In stock form , a cobra is faster . There is no denying that . But the same numbers are easy to hit with less then 1000 bucks in some cases .
Now a SC LS1 . low 11's , right off the bat . Ill be joining that club very soon

youre talking about E.T's when you should be talking about MPHs yeah LS1's with "proper" traction (1.9-2.0 60') should hit 12.8-12.9 but with the same traction the Cobra will be closer to 12.3-12.4's. Mod for mod the cobra still wins.
