I have'nt seen a LS1 in New England that can with my '88. Even at New England Dragway I have not seen any that can run with my '88.But theres a crapload of mustangs that can blow my doors off.Theres fox bodies runing mid-low 7's 1/4 miles up here on 10.5 in tires.Theres even N/A ones running low 8's. I used to run at GM High tech shootouts in E-Town when they allowed Fords to run. But every race we'd beat up on all the GM's. So they did'nt allow us to run anymore. At least my Ford made it in GM High Tech mag. It had a pic of my Saleen and my friends LX launching in the final round and in the write up it stated that we " slaughterd all the late model GM's there" It's hilarious to read that.
They even stoped having the mustang vs GN shootouts in E-town after the year that mustangs won 26 of the 27 matchups.
Don't forget about the Pro 5.0 cars that are running low 6's at 220+mph.Ford small blocks can run with mountain motor chevy Pro mod cars!!! There's no LS1 out there thats running low 6's.So enough of this crap about how awsome GM's are and ford is junk ****. Theres thousands of 5.0's out there that can spank you by bus lenths.
BTW I own a LS1. Both my mustangs are faster and better built.

Once that Novi 2000 gets spinning it pulls like a freight train. Its still pulling hard at 7100 rpms where I shift. I dont want to run it to much higher than that because it has a hydralic cam.And if it did'nt have the titanium valves I could'nt rev it past 6500rpms.

The car was set up for FFW & NMRA Street Renegade. You can only run hydralic cam with .550 max lift. The plans for it now is to just drive it on the streets take it to cruise nites and have fun with it. I drag raced it for 10 years and it gets expensive to race a 9 second car alot. When I first started in the class I qualified # 1 at the first 2 events I entered and I won 1 of them and the other got rained out. That was a few years ago but FFW Renegade cars are now in the 7's and I wouldn't even qualify with my setup anymore . And thats the slowest heads up power adder class in the FFW series.

I've never owned a fbody, but I have to wonder what kind of POS it has to be for you to say the mustang wins hands down. Before I bought my GTO a few years ago I test drove EVERYthing that might even be a consideration (accept the fbody...it was too old). I drove an 05 GT and an 03 Cobra and both myself and my wife thought they were the two sh*ttiest cars we drove that week. Both of them handled like crap, and the interior on the 03 was a joke. 05 interior was ok, but it rattled A LOT. Compared to the M3, GTO, Vette and 350 I drove, the Fords were outclassed in all departments accept straight line acceleration.

Whats next ford needs FI to hang right? Ive owned 4 4th gen. fbodies and have driven numerous mustangs and the build quality is not even close, Blue Oval wins hands down. If thats the case Ill pick up a 5.0 stang for a grand or two and have a modfest. Look at Mikie's, he doesnt have much in that car at all and it can easily hang w/ LT1's.

Fbody's are rattlebox's. Both my Lt1's were and so was the LS1. The handleing wasnt much to write home about either...and we already know about their rears. You thought the irs cobra handled like crap? thats the first time ive heard that. Stangs definately have a much more solid feel. The Mustang is no benz but it wins over the camaro hands down.

I have to say the 5.0 mustangs are very fast and very cheap to mod. My friends boss has his 881/2 (t-top car) with the stock interior going 8.07's in the quarter with a built small block. It is a 10 inch tire car, I do not have any pics of it, sorry. I would have bought one if I did not buy my z28. The Saleen is very cool, I really wanted to buy one.
