94' FireHawk VS 2003 Z06

Few weeks ago, I was driving to my inlaws house, cruising in the passing lane of a highway, a yellow z06 hops onto the highway and the driver saw that I was checking his car out. He then gets behind me and begins to ride my ***. I began to accelerate in 6th....then dropped into 4th...I began to pull. We jumped on the 290, which is a 3-lane highway.....we were side by side, he looks over and pulls slightly....we were going 75mph. I dropped it from 6th to 4th, nailed it to the floor and pulled to 130mph....the z06 was 4+ car leghts behind me. All the mods and $$$ I spent made it worth while...

Are you sure it was a Z06? A regular vette i could see. But i think it would be very hard to pull a z06 by 4+ cars at those speeds. Unless he wasn't really racing. But if he was good kill.

Yes, it was a Z06. Vents on the bottom and all.

He must not have been racing for you to win by that much. What did your car run stock? What does it run now?

Well......we were pulling 130+......whether he knew how to aggressivly drive the car, dont know. My firebird has approx 370 at the crank.......330 rwhp....plus gears....My car stock ran 13.5 @103, now runs the 1/8 at 8.6 at 84 mph. Heads and cam this spring......Hoping for 390rwhp and better times

An '03 Z06 has about 350 rwhp stock, weighs about 3100 lbs. and has better aerodynamics than you. It's trans. ratios are also lower than yours, but you have a lower rear axle gear. It should win with a good driver. But it didn't. So, good kill!

Hey, I was just as surprised as you guys may be. I was not thinking that I was going to pull ahead. If at all, I though I would lose by a car length or two....I was not expecting to pull ahead. Now, after heads and cam, I expect to pull away rather easily.....IMO.

That's a good kill. Although reading your sig I'm thinking the Z06 should have beat you.

my best 1/8 was an 8.53@85.24 on a 2.06 60 ft. the two z06s that i have raced on the highway walked me pretty good.

nice kill on the poor z06 driver, though. i hope he doesn't race a 350z or srt-4 anytime soon, or the ls1/ls6 boards may never hear the end of it.
