springs for 1LE shocks...

I just got done installing the complete 1LE suspension kit (springs, shocks, and front swaybar). Of course now, the car sits a little too high. What are soem good springs to get to lower the car 3/4" - 1"? I don't do any auto X or track racing but am more interested in the looks area now. Any ideas? Thanks,

Kyle

The Eibach Pro Kit will drop your car 1.2" front and 1.4" in the rear.

Re: springs for 1LE shocks...

Yeah, this is the orange 1Le shocks. I've got the car together and it feels great. Much better on the daily drive than the stock setup but the ride height has got to go. What about the DMS springs? Will any of these springs that you have reccomended work with the 1LE shocks or am I asking for trouble, similar to a stock shock/lowering spring setup? Thanks,

Kyle

Re: springs for 1LE shocks...

I think you will be best with the SLP eibachs. they lower a bit less then an inch.
The oragne 1LE shocks are a slightly better decarbon, so keep that in mind.

EDIT, said SLP bilstiens when I was talking about the SLP eibach springs.

Uh..the orange shocks are DeCarbons. You need better shocks. You'll want their yellow revalve Bilsteins at the very least.

Re: springs for 1LE shocks...

barely... get new shocks.

The shocks do not affect ride height... that's the 1LE springs. They should settle in a few trips, but it's common to see them ride ~0.5" higher than stock. If you need to drop the rear just yank the spring isolator and wrap the ends of the springs with 5/8" heater hose. If you get Koni SA shocks up front you can drop the front 1" using the lower spring perch. Going to any other springs won't work well at all since the shocks are already near their maximum abilities with the 1LE's slightly higher spring rate... drop springs will rocket those #/" rates through the roof and th shock won't be able to handle it.

Sorry bout your kit... maybe you can return the shocks for a refund? The front sway bar can be returned aswell if you want to get a 35mm up there eventually.

I am actually very pleased with the ride qulaity. It was exactly what I wanted, something a little firmer than stock but still a comfortable ride. I don't use the car for any type of auto X and such so the more expensive setups are not really an option for me.

Re: springs for 1LE shocks...

If you wanted it firmer, you could have accomplished that better with a 35mm bar than a whole bunch of 1le parts. First off, the stock shocks suck, and unless you have 1le konis or bilsteins, a higher springrate only makes it worse. Second, the bar takes only a couple of hours to install. Third, the bar artifically increases the springrate without the addding to the need for much more dampening from the shocks. Fourth, since you raise the car, you have actually reduced your camber, which hurts the cornering ability.

You're right, stock "Z28" shocks do suck, especially ones with 50k miles on them. That is why I didn't buy stock "Z28" shocks, these are stock 1LE shocks. Since my stock shocks were worn out anyway, and the stock "Z28" springs had almost 100K miles, I opted for an inexpensive replacement, with the benefit of better handling. I did replace the stock "Z28" swaybar with the 1LE swaybar, which did give me the benefit you spoke of. The only negative, if you want to call it that, is the look of the car and how it sits higher. I did not want to spend several hundred dollars on better than stock equipment that I was not going to take advantage of, so for the grand total of $149.99, I got the 1LE shocks, springs, and swaybar. That was a minimal increase over SLP take-off equipment and, to me, was worth the added $$.

Re: springs for 1LE shocks...

Better check your front springs again (count the coils)... I got a hold of the springs from these guys selling the "1le kit" and the front springs were just stock replacements.

Total scam. Who ever heard of needing more spring rate in the REAR only (they did come with rear 1LE springs).
