Ride height issue rlt. to trqe arm?
Ride height issue rlt. to trqe arm?
My car sits lower in the back and seems to have a slight lean. I posted before and I was shown a lot of threads relating to it. Unfortunently, none of them had any answers. I've been thinking about it and noticed that some people have twisted their torque arm with stock power. Since this is one of the pieces that hold down the rear axle, I was wondering if it was possible that if it weas twisted, it could be the cause of my, and evidentally many other people's, problems. I noticed that the other people didn't have an upgraded TA. I'm planning on upgrading, but I want to save up for the Global West Trac-link, which is a lot of bread, so it may take awhile since I got a lot of other things that have to be paid. Anyone think I may be on the right track?
Re: Ride height issue rlt. to trqe arm?
I wouldnt think the TA would affect the ride hieght. If it was twisted it could change your pinion angle, but I dont see how it would lower the rear of the car.
Have you had your rear springs out before? Have you changed shocks? If you have done either, maybe the springs did not seat correctly in the upper perch causing one side to be a little higher than the other.
I also noticed in your sig that you have a couple of 12" subs, possibly the weight from the speakers, box, amp, etc. is causing the back to sag??
Just throwing out some ideas...

The TA limits the rotation of the rear axle, but doesn't effect side to side height. I agree with the post above, check your rear springs to ensure they're seated correctly.
Re: Ride height issue rlt. to trqe arm?
i actually brought it to a shop and had them swap the rear springs to see if it Did anything. it didnt. my cars supposed to be lowered about an inch (check sig) but the rear almost sits flush with the tires on the rear pass side, little higher on the drivers side rear. theres about a 1.5 inch rise on the drivers front, about as high as stock. i removed the subs also but it only lifted a little. it still looked like a high sided 64 impala. some had written that the top spring may have been welded on wrong but my shop said thats not possible, its part of the body. i was just running an idea through here about the TA since it had crossed my mind and wanted to know if it were possible. guess not. thanks guys.

I would try switching the rear springs side to side and see if it still sits the same or if the low side and the higher side switched. One spring may be sagged more than the other.
You could also find another cheap used set of rear springs to throw on and see if that makes a difference. Maybe yours are just worn out.

yeah thats exactly what we Did At the shop, but it Did nothing. i only have about 55k miles on the car. i called slp about this and they told me the spring wasnt set correctly. it was. they also said that the springs would be good for At least 60k and thats assuming heavy track use, which is rare on my car. One reason im looking into this is that this has happened to several people who went through many sets of springs and shocks with no effect, so thats not the issue, nor can installation mistakes be it either, not that many times At least. no One solved the problem except for One guy that put a spacer above the spring between the perch.
