What's the smallest wheel size you can use with LS1 brakes? Friend of mine wants to put some LS1 brakes on his Grand Prix (he says it's a common thing to do), but he doesn't have stock wheels, so he's not sure if his current wheels will clear the brakes.

Any idea what the smallest INSIDE diameter of a wheel you can use?

 

almost all 16 inch wheels will fit
i say almost because the inner diameter of all 16 inch wheels are large enough to clear the calipers
but sometimes the backspacing may not agree with the calipers
this is a rare occurance with f-bodies, the only one i know is the 16 inch gta rims will not fit, but for a grand prix its hard to tell

he says its a common thing to do, to swap ls1 brakes into a grand prix?
please if you can, send me a link to an article or something so i can see this for myself because i have an 2000 impala, which i believe is essentially the same suspension

I already have LS1 front brakes on my 95Z28. I will be putting the rear LS1 brakes on soon.

Who knows if my old 1995 spare will fit the LS1 brakes on all four corners?

the 1995 spare tire will not work on the front wheels if you have an ls1 upgrade
i'm pretty sure they wont work for the ls1 rear brakes either but i'm not sure, i have a set of ls1 rear brakes at home waiting for the 87, if i get a chance i'll try and fit them in my 95's spare
