LS1 Brake conversion - Master cyl too?

I did the Ls1 Brake conversion a while ago.
Brake feel was improved greatly over LT1 brakes. No complains there.

However, I have noticed some drag on te front wheels every time I change the front tires at the track and my e.t. has suffered a bit too.

I wonder if the master cylinder should also be replaced when doing the LS1 conversion. They do have different part numbers from GM.

Any suggestions or information gratly apreciated.

Anybody know what the difference is between 93-97 and 98-02 Brake Master Cylinders?
Maybe the bore diameter?
They do have different part numbers.

Thanks.

The only difference is the internal piston. I'm not sure what the difference is, but maybe they upgraded it for the increased brake sizes for the LS1.

piston size doesn't matter too much. Bigger piston makes a shorter travel more touchy brake, smaller piston makes a longer travel, less touchy brake.
or so I remember...

I've never heard the requirement to change master cylinder with an LS1 swap, and that's a pretty common upgrade. I did my LS1 swap about 5 months ago (along with SS brake lines), but no complaints.

I also flushed my brake fluid during the swap..you might consider that first to see if it improves.

I did the LS1 brake swap about 8 years ago. No problems here and I did not change the MC. If your front brake pads are dragging on the rotor maybe you should regrease the guide pins.

Thanks for all the replies.
My brakes have become better and better with use.
I think they were dragging a bit because the rotors were new, pads also new and I had rebuilt the calipers myself with new piston seals.
No drag on the front wheels and great stopping.
