I want to free the slave master!

I need to replace the clutch master-slave cylinder assembly on my 96Z. At this point I am unable to slide the clutch reservoir part of the assembly between the wire harness at firewall mount and the brake booster. Do I have to unbolt the brake master cylinder from the booster and slide the booster away from the firewall? The Haynes book does not give any information about getting the clutch master-slave cylinder assembly in and out.

No, You don't have to remove the brake master cylinder or booster at all.
You should get the Chiltons manual #28284, page 7-14 to 7-15 will give you all the instructions and pictures you will need to do the job. It gives a nice set of instructions on how to remove the clutch master cylinder and actuator cylinder which must be removed together. The master cylinder is ultimately removed from the bottom of the car.
I put an adjustable McLeod Billet master cylinder and actuator set in my '97WS6 about 13 years ago and it still works great. A bit of work to get the old out and the new one in but it was well worth it.
Hope that helps if you haven't got it done yet..
