line lock question

I bought the TCI line lock and now I need to install it. I plan on doing the flaring and bending myself. However I can't figure out what connectors I need.

I think I need two 3/16" lines, one end has an inverted (aka standard) flare with standard threads to mate to the solenoid; the other end has an inverted flare with metric threads to mate to the stock brake components.

Is this right? The TCI instructions say something about needing a 1/8" adapter, I don't understand what that has to do with anything. I'd really like to have all the right parts lined up before I tear into this. Thanks.

Re: line lock question

The connections on the factory components... e.g. master cylinder, ABS unit.... are "metric", and each one is a different size. I think Shoebox has the thread descriptions on his Tech Pages website. Are you sure the TCS solenoid connections aren't 1/8" NPT.... I know the ones on the Hurst are.

Re: line lock question

Wow, that's a good site.

In case anyone else is reading this thread, the threads on the brake master cylinder are M11x1.5 and the threads on the combination valve are M10x1.0.

Here's what the TCI instructions say: "There are two common size brake lines available. TCI's solenoid will work with either size. But you will need to purchase the proper bushing adapter. The thread size in the TCI solenoid is 1/8" strait pipe thread. Purchase either an adapter that goes from 1/8" to 1/4" inverted flair or 1/8" to 3/16" inverted flair." Is 1/8" straight pipe the same thing as NPT?

Yup, 1/8" NPT = Straight Pipe...

I'm running that exact unit in my car. I think I got my adapters from Advance Auto at the time; cost like $5 total for all the adapter fittings I needed.

Re: line lock question

Pretty good guide, though the instructions I have place the line lock between the master cylinder and the combo valve, instead of after the combo valve.

Man, I've been to 5 stores looking for the metric fittings, and no dice. I ended up ordering Hurst's F-body "kit" (looks like just those two fittings).

Re: line lock question

For the fittings, what I did was use the stock fittings and put them on a new piece of tubing, then just used the SAE fittings on the ends that thread to the Line-Lock.
