MY brakes suck!

Anyone ever put c5 zo6 brakes on their LT1 car? Is it worth it or should I just use LS1 brakes?

Just get the LS1 brakes if its just a daily driver. The LS1 setup is amazing for the price. I got my set off ebay for $165 shipped. By the time i cleaned them up and installed them i have approx. $200 in them. You can't even get C5 rotors for that.

Yup. Can't beat the price of the LS1 brake conversion. I'll be putting mine on with tubular upper/lower A arms and Eibach springs/ Blistein shocks as soon as the weather gets nicer.

Re: MY brakes suck!

Moving from LT1 to LS1 brakes is a big help. But to be honest, the LT1 brakes are more than adequate for most people. However, the key is the details like having a quality brake pad, good fluid and stainless steel lines.

Sure the rotors are smaller, but the majority of braking power comes from the grip you have in a pad. Big brakes with crappy pads will be worse than small brakes with good pads. I suspect you have crappy pads on the car now.

In your case we use a lot of Hawk HPS or HP Plus compound pads, a set of Russell lines and ATE Brake Fluid........ Big difference.

I agree that the LS1 brake mod is an excellent improvement for us LT1 guys.

I got my C5 front rotors through gmpartsdirect.com for $45 for the set, shipped. Heck, even the stock OEM rotors are only $50 each.

How did you get $45 shipped for the set from www.gmpartsdirect.com when they are $50 each?

Also, to the original poster, the C% upgrade is worth it if you have the cash to spend. $ for $, it was the best mod I have ever done to my car.

Look at these part numbers.
88925547
88925548

Like I said, the direct OEM replacements are $50 each.

I know that they are $50 each, I've bought them before.

My question was how you got $45 shipped for the set.

Sorry, but did you read my post? Check those part numbers. They are C5 front rotors, and are GM parts. They are not the C5 OEM rotors, but they are rotors for the C5 from GM.

No, they are 13" rotors, and the stock LT1 rotors are smaller.

Re: MY brakes suck!

Ahhhh, I see now. I didn't know that there was such a cheap replacement rotor available, it just didn't make sense. In fact, that's DAMN cheap! I wonder why they are that cheap, sounds like a price error. Better get them while you can at that price. I'm gonna get me a couple of sets as spares while they are still around!

I wonder what the difference between those and the $50 ones is?

I was thinking of the part numbers 10445856, and 10445857 ($50 each).
