LCA's
LCA's
I'm gonna be purchasing some rear lower control arms from bmr here in the next day or so. I had my mind set on the street/strip adjustable ones that go for $189. Is it worth the extra cash for the adjustable ones or no? explain your reasoning. Also looking into getting an adjustable tq arm from then in 2 months...is all this adjustable suspension stuff necessary?
Re: LCA's
Let me take care of "moderator" issues first.... PLEASE post on the correct forum. "LCA's" is not a topic for "LT1/LT4 Engine Tech". Moving to "Suspension...."
There is very little use for the "adjustable" feature in an LCA. You could use it to correct for the rear axle not being perpendicular to the longitudianl axis of the chassis (thrust angle), but that isn't a problem you're likely to run into outside of chassis damage from a wreck. The other use is to relocate the axle front-to-rear to help with clearance of large (~28") slicks. Otherwise, there is nothing to use the LCA adjustment for.
The torque arm and panhard rod are a different story. The adjustment on the TA is good for correcting pinion angle - critical to good traction and low drivetrain wear, and the panhard will help you center the chassis over the axle, correcting assembly misalignment or misalignment due to lowering.
