And I think its the kind that turn rusty, and I really don't like that at all, especially with chrome wheels and the rotors being so visible through them. I didn't think about telling them to use coated rotors before hand, so I really don't feel right about taking the car back to the shop.

My question is what can I use to coat or spray the rotors with to prevent them from rusting out?

Most auto parts stores carry high temp paint made for this application. You'll need to either mask the area swept by the brake pads or remove the paint in that area (scotchbrite pad or fine sand paper).

Dude are you serious? I don't see how any paint is gonna stand up to brake pads. My rotors only rust when they get damp. The rust should go right away with the first few stops. ?????

I am not worried about the area where the brake pads rub the discs. I am worried about the other areas of the rotors.

I've used some high heat flat black on the non-contact portion of the front rotors, and its held up for years. I think it was probably bar-b-que paint . I have the Baer rotors in the back, with the zinc wash coating, and they have held up rust free for 6 years.

They sell the high heat paint in just about any color you would need, they have colors that look like natural metal finishes also.

Well its raining today, so I will find out if the rotors turn to rust. If so, I'll start looking for some high heat silver.

Like was already said, mask off the area that makes contact with the pad, sand off the rust, and spray it with high temp paint that you can find at about any parts store. It's not that difficult and it works.
