Added lca and relocation brackets now tires getting cut

Before I did this my 275/50/15’s had no problem entering and exiting my drive way.

The rear end was all stock minus some old competition engineering drag shocks and that’s it..
I decided to start on the rear since the front got upgraded and start with a set of non adjustable
lca’s and relocation brackets.
I left everything loose and lowered car on its own weight and tq’d everything down.
now when I back out of my driveway at an angle like have to my wheel goes all the way up into my fender and tire gets cut now and it doesn’t matter right or left either side the tire gets tagged.

so is it the relocation brackets or something else fubar

Are the rear axle jounce bumpers intact? The factory pieces rot and fall apart, leaving just the metal brackets. Polyurethane replacements are available.

At some point while installing the LCA's and relo brackets, did you let the weight of the axle assembly hang on the old shocks, perhaps damaging them? Does the rear of the car bounce more easily, compared to before you did the LCA install?

Shocks I’d admit are old 15yrs maybe but yes it’s bouncy/springy.

are you talking about those bump stops? Lol
they are probably gone-gone.

I did order new springs cause these are 27yrs and 260k on them but surprisingly the insulators are good..

so shocks could be done?

Weak springs, worn out shocks, and missing jounce bumpers (bump stops) allow the body to drop too far, possibly putting the fender lip into the tire sidewall. 275’s shouldn’t contribute to the problem, unless your wheels have the incorrect offset/backspace, and the tires are pushed outward, too close to the fender lip.

Replacing the LCA’s shouldn’t change anything. I can't think of a reason the LCA relocation brackets contributed, unless possibly the bolt holes are not drilled in an arc to keep dropping the axle end of the LCA from pulling the axle assembly slightly forward as the LCA’s are lowered. Some cheapies or Chinese rip-offs may simply have the holes drilled in a straight vertical alignment, rather than arced in a radius. Were these bolt-in or weld-in brackets? Are they installed correctly?

I just did new Bilsteins, 02 WS6/SS springs all the way around, and new bump stops earlier this year. I can’t tell you how much of an improvement the ride and handling was. If you would’ve told me prior I wouldn’t have believed it.

The BMR relo brackets are fine.

You also need to check the sway bar bushings. If you are angling the car into the driveway (to avoid a bump or scraping the nose?) the body is twisting relative to the rear axle. A weak sway bar, or missing, rotted, or soft bushings may not be controlling that twist, allowing the body to contact the tire sidewall.
