6 cylinde rebuilder (drum to disc conversion)

Im despirate, and after 4 days of no answer in the drivetrain forum... lwets see if the guru's in here can help.

ok... so I need a fresh new 10bolt.... and I went down to the lockal junk yard... all they had was 1 F-body. luckily they had that atleast. It's a 94 6cilinder, but it has a clean rear, with ABS. Only problem is it's a drum and not disk... so I'm thinking of taking the rear of the 6cylinder I found, and throwing in new gears and differential... takign that disc junk off, and tossing on my disc brakes from my 95 Z28... does anyone see a problem with this? BTW how much does a rear axle with out the tires or brakes weigh?

Re: 6 cylinde rebuilder

PLEASE post on the correct forum.

Helpful Hint - You might want to use more accurate "topic" to get responses. "6 cylinde rebuilder" isn't likely to draw the attention of people who might be able to answer a question about converting from drums to discs.

Did you verify the 6 cyl rear had Posi? Most of them don't.

Thanks,

I haven't verified if it was posi or not... would that make a difference if I'm goig to swap out differentials?

The reasdon I want to put on a different 10 is that the one on my car isn't the original either, and after swapping out the components it stell seems to be giving me trouble.

I wouldn't buy the junk yard rear just to install all the components from your rear on it. Wouldn't you just end up with you rear with a dirrerent housing.

The V6 cars almost never had posi. A drum brake car is sure not to.
