93 lt1 tb coolent bypass

Does anyone have a video or pictures that show exactly what to do and the exact part I need to pick up, without ordering a kit off eBay? Thanks

Here is a kit from Hawks: 93-97 Camaro/Firebird LT1 V8 Throttle Body Water Bypass Kit - Hawks Third Generation

I am not sure what is different with the 93-94, but check this out: http://shbox.com/1/tb_bypass.jpg

Re: 93 lt1 tb coolent bypass

The plumbing of the line from the steam pipe from the back of the heads is different 93/94 compared to 95-97. That's why the procedure is different.

1993 & 1994:

For 93/94 you take the coolant hose off the right side (looking from the front of the car) of the throttle body bottom plate, take the coolant hose off the left side of the throttle body bottom plate, and connect those two hoses together with a barbed hose connector. Then tighten a worm clamp on either side of the connector. The two vacuum caps for the pipes on the throttle boy bottom plate are strictly cosmetic. You really don't need them, but it looks better with them.

The only thing I can’t remember is the size of the barbed hose connector. 3/8" or so. Do a search. I and others have posted the size of the barbed connector in the past. It's a low $$$ hardware store part, along with the two worm clamps. Ne need for a fancy $20 kit.

1995 thru 1997:

95-97 does NOT need the barbed connector. You take the hose off the right side of the throttle body, take the 90-deg elbow off the left side of the throttle body and the steam pipe. Discard (or better yet, save) the 90-deg elbow. Connect the hose you took off the right side to the steam pipe. That's what Shoebox shows.

In BOTH cases it is EXTREMELY simple. Do not drip coolant on the Optispark distributor.

Re: 93 lt1 tb coolent bypass

Just finished doing the coolent bypass, would have been very easy if I had more room but these camaros are crammed tight. Found the 3/8 fitting I needed at Lowe's in the plumbing aisle. Everyrhing went together fairly easy besides getting those old hoses off of where they were connected to the tb. For 5 bucks of stuff at Lowe's for a few extra hp ill take that. Thanks guys for the help!
