LT4 hotcam valvetrain... LE1 cam Approved?
LT4 hotcam valvetrain... LE1 cam Approved?
As the title implies.... I am wondering if the valvetrain components found in my GM LT4 hotcam kit will be a safe combination with a Lloyd Elliot cam? I know combination motorsports recommends a bunch of comp cam valvetrain components. I am currently running the LT4 hot cam and I am wondering if I decided to switch and go with a cam from Lloyd, would I need to buy all new drivetrain parts? Or will the ones supplied from my LT4 hot cam kit be sufficient? Also what about the LE1 Heads? Will I need to switch out any additional drivetrain parts when I get my heads ported? I am curious to hear you guys thoughts about this topic. Any replies will be appreciated
Well from what I understand the LE1 cam has more lift and duration that the hotcam. No one but LE1 cam owners know the specs but I can assure you that they wouldn't recommend the springs that they do if it didn't need them. You can use your 1.6 rockers but not the springs.
The GMPP rockers are also lift limited compared to most other roller rockers so make sure you tell him you want to use those and he can tell you if the cam they have in mind falls within that lift limit which is I think .550.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say no freakin way. The springs alone are barely enough for the hotcam which has very little lift compared to what most cams around the LE1 have. You really need to call them and ask. I don't understand why everyone asks questions like this on the forum instead of just calling the place of business.
