Best cam for mid 12s on stock heads?
At some point this year, or maybe next year, I would definitely like to toss a cam in my LT1. It'll be a budget runner, so there won't be nice ported heads on it. Those will be staying stock except for necessary valvetrain parts. Now, I see a lot of guys on here running low to mid 12s with stock heads and a cam. I don't plan on doing much weight reduction, just your basic !spare+jack, and probably !backseat+passenger seat. I'm curious to see what a lot of you guys are running. I see a lot of CC306 and 305 cams around. I want to know what works for what I want. Mid 12's would be extremely nice. So, there you have it. Start telling me some of the cams that work well for what I want. I've got plenty of time to research it.

Hey dude f*ck mid 12s hit it up with some springs and go with the XE 230/236 and some long tubes and slicks and dyno tune and youll see depending on what else you have done low 12s to even high 11s. OH AND BY THE WAY YOULL ALSO NEED A 3000STALL PLUS WITH A 3.73 GEAR TO HELP YOU WITH WHAT YOU WONT.

I have a 3000rpm Vig.,3.73's,Jet Hot LT's,CAI,and a Cut Out. I plan to dip into the 11's with the addition of a CC306 and P&P stock heads. From what I've found just the CC306 addition to my mod list can net mid to low 12's with good traction.

I've been considering the 306 for sure. Would 236/242 be too much for stock heads? The reason I ask, I have a friend about 5 mintutes away that is no longer going to use this cam. He has P&P heads and ran 12.4 with it. I for one, think the 236/242 would be too big for stock heads, but I guess you never know.
I don't have enough cam knowledge to answer that. I'm sure someone with more experience could help you out more. But I agree without headwork I think that cam might be too much(don't take that answer to heart though).

either his traction sucks or his heads do...
What about the GM 847 cam. I've been hearing more about it recently and have heard nothing but good results from it. I think it's atljar that has it and has ran AWESOME times with it. But I'm not for sure.

Impressive. I'd be about the same mods, I would have Hooker LTs and not TPIs, I'll have 3.42s instead of 3.73s. Probably stock TB versus your 52mm. Overall, you've got me thinking about this cam now. What are the specs on the GM847 cam?
