My engine builder refused to use the valvesprings that came in the kit. He said they were too weak to use, and would float. Might want to check into getting some new springs.

Anyway, I love how my HOTcam feels. I do have fully ported heads and I think that helps a lot, but I'm sure you'll like the cam too.

When I got my heads done, I switched springs because of the same reason listed above.

I gained 24 HP with the kit and an additional 11 after the tune.

This has also been covered many times, the springs that come in the kit ARE good enough, as i say though "good enough" is not "good enough" for some people though, many many people on this board use the springs that come with the kit with no problems what so ever, in fact i don't think i've ever seen anyone ever whos running the kit that has had a problem with the springs, however they are borderline, so if you changed the cam to ANYTHING bigger you would HAVE to have different springs, however if you dont rev indecently and abuse your new hotcam kit, the springs that come with it will work just fine, otherwise GM would not have put them in there, when they know the kit it a LT1 upgrade.

.....and if you do decide to go with different springs, you have to make sure that the new springs and retainers will work with the rockers that came with the Hot Cam kit......just a heads up, cuz I've been down that road already

I would change the springs. The ones that came with the kit are made for the LT4 cam which is smaller than the LT4 "HOTcam" which is why they are borderline. You could probably run those springs without an issue, but why live on the edge?

Also, how far along are you in the install? You might need some new gaskets, assembly lube etc. depending on how far along you are.
