Arrow Think I got a bad load of gas... few q's

I was out cruising most of the night and the car was running great. Just before I went home I stopped at an exxon to fill up ( down to about an 1/8 of a tank) with supreme (92 octane, i believe, the higest around here) which I always use witout a problem. Leaving the pump, the car felt fine. As soon as I started to accelerate down the road, the car didn't feel right. It seemed to miss and lacked power. I checked the plug wires and they look fine. The only other thing I can think of is a bad load of gas and the ECU is retarding the timing. The car runs like my dad's old caddy DeVille did when he accidentlly put regular gas in (needs premium). it is not showing a ses light and I have no way of scanning codes.

Any ideas on whats wrong and what I can do?

it would cruise fine but if I tried to get on it from stop it would pop thru exhaust and would miss bad

I've gotten bad gas a few times from a pump (not in the z yet)and took me a day to figure it out cause I thought my ride was pooping out on me

If it is not the wires, then just take it easy until you burn away your tank.

I would recommend to get some unleaded race gas (104 or higher) and pump a couple of gallons to mix it in. I have access to this locally at the Unocal 76.

Finally, you may try to put in the redline SL1 (have used them alot with my older supra) or maybe some octane booster. I haven't use either of this for my Camaro though.

The octane booster sounds like a good idea to me.

Cool

If you ran it too 1/8th tank on the guage, you had about 1/2 gallon of gas left. This means you could have overheated your fuel pump and burnt it up. Never go below 1/4 tank on the guage.

Well I know last year when I got some bad gas the car just shut off while driving. Started right back up, shut off... Missed a little, sounded kinda wierd. Couldn't figure it out. Eventually after I ran through the gas and put some new stuff in, it was a ton better.

It be a good idea to change out your fuel filter while you are at it.

Thats a good point I forgot to mention. I changed my filter thinking that was maybe the problem. The manual says to only change it if you think its clogged but at about 80K miles I decided to cut it open to look at it and it was black! Really Black! So I would change it anyhow.

I never did, but I didn't have a chance to refill it till then.

BTW I just got about 5 gallons of 94 octane gas in there and the car is a lot better, still misses though

EDIT: where can I get a new fuel filter?
