Is Zaino really all that great?

I've been using Zaino for about 4 years now on more vehicles than I can begin to count. All in all I think I've gone through about 30 bottles of Z2 alone... just a guess though.

I've found that honestly the initial shine of Zaino isn't really any better than any of the other good waxes out there. The key to zaino is that it maintains that shine, and also that if you want to add to the shine, it can be stacked.

Back in the days of Z1/Z2 it was a pretty big PITA, but now with ZFX, it takes no more work than any other wax. Heck, to me it takes less work because it comes off easier and doesn't have to be worked out of the cracks with a toothpick after the wax dries.

I would like to see ZFX some howworked into the product. I rather wait 30 minutes or longer to take the wax off than spend another 20 bucks with sal.

maybe its a difference I only every used ZFX, never without it...

I also let the car sit maybe a good 1-2 hours with the zaino on before I move on...

I will put on a coat, let it sit for 1-2 hours, then take it off, put on z6, let it sit for 30-45 minutes, then start up with another coat of Z5, same thing... then put the z6 on, let it sit for an hour or so, then put on z2, let it sit on overnight... take it off the next morning, and put z6 on again and I am done...

I claybared my car, maybe put on 4-5 coats of z5, 2-3 coats of z2, and gone through a bottle of z6(I think I spray to much when I put it on)

I did this between 2 detailings and thats how my car looks...

As for holding power... I did the first zaino treatment, then 1.5 months later did the next...

I only washed the car once between treatments... with Z7...

wanna know how I clean my car... I go outside, spray it with a hose, and drive to work/class, no scrubbing, soap or drying...

My car looks cleaner and shines better then it did when I used to wash and wax with normal store waxes...

Only defects... is I get soem water spots on the rear bumper, form the water that stays by the tailights and hatch and drips its way down to the bumper... Also doesn't get "wind blown" off.

as for zfx... it is a bit pricey but not hard at all... they drop the price a $10 and I would have no complaints at all... Maybe if they sold the little vile by itself, I don't really need 4 more little mixing bottles

I like mixing it... I fill half a 2 oz bottle, put in 3-4 drops, shake it up and go... the mini bottles kind of limit how much I use as well...

Not sure if they can incorporate it thought, it states, after you mix it its only good for a certain amount of hours, I think 12? then it will work like crap, so maybe they cannot incorporate it.

I do agree that there is no way in HELL that the little tiny bottle of ZFX should be priced at $20.

I have a couple of friends who use me as their 'dealer' for Zaino (they are too cheap to buy everything they need so they just call me when they need to wax and come by and pick up a single vial mixed up)... every last person who has heard the price of that tiny vial has said "damn man... what is that stuff? Liquid crack!?!?"

I mean, if you worked out the cost for each wax application, the bottle only adds about 2-3 bucks per coat of wax, which is worth it to me for the time/effort saved. But I don't think a product like that should be so highly marked up just because it solves one of the defficiencies that Zaino had in the past when a preapplication of Z1 was necessary.

Well I use Zaino, but I am schizo about it. One day I think it is the greatest thing since sliced bread, the next I am cursing at it.

I have used Zaino for almost two years. I was a Gold Class user previously. I thought GC had a great shine, but dust and rain and even car wash soap would wash it away. The durability was not very good. I saw Zaino being bragged about on various message boards for a couple of years, but I thought the price was too high. Everybody said the durabililty was great, and the shine was unreal.

In May of 2002, I purchased my first Zaino. I applied it to my red Formula which I mainly drive on weekends and only in dry weather. At first I was not impressed at all with the shine. I was not too happy, but subsequent coats made the paint look better and better.

I continued to use Gold Class on my wife's car until I ran out. In April of last year, I switched over to Zaino on my wife's car, a '90 Pontiac Sunbird. It sits outside all the time, but has always been waxed or polished regulary. I followed the instructions to a "t".
After the first rain, the car didn't bead water on the top surfaces of the car at all. I've probably put one coat a month at least on the car, and the same thing happens every time. I guess the paint might not be in as good a shape as I think, but I did follow the instructions. The shine really isn't all that hot either

In July of last year, my wife and I bought a white 2000 Pontiac GTP. After we owned the car a month, I went for the Zaino. I clayed the car until it was silky smooth, then I applied 3 coats of zfx/z5. It rained about 3 inches before I washed the car again. The water beaded up like crazy! I was very happy. I then applied 3 coats of Z2/ZFX. The car had an awesome shine!!! About two weeks later, I appled a quick coat of Z2 before we went on a trip. I noticed the water wasn't beading very well, and we hadn't had much rain either. I have since applied many more coats of either ZFX or regular Zaino Z5 or Z2. The results are always the same: Little or no beading on the top surfaces after a rain. I reclayed the car a couple of weeks ago, but it didn't help. Road film eats right through the Z also. The car looks absolutely great though.
I never go very long without applying product, but that is not the point.

The few times my Formula has had rain on it, the same thing happens. The car has probably close to 20 coats of Zaino on it also.

It wouldn't be that bad, but I have sent emails to every email address on the Zaino website. I have received NO response from anyone, including Sal. I sent pictures and everything.

I was out and about in rainy weather last weekend, and there were tons of cars that looked like they had better paint protection than my car.

That is what happened when I tried Zaino. I called their information line with a question, and no response. It worked, but I was dissatisfied with the results. I have seen various finishes with Zaino and it looked like it worked ok for other people.

I am very happy with my current wax. It doesn't require multiple coats, and it lasts, bar none (granted the car sits under a cover 90% of the time!).

It all depends on what works for you.

This happened to me....I had about 15 coats of Z2 and Z5 on my car, and it wasn't lasting. I called Sal and talked to him on the phone several times, and turns out the paint was oxidized but not to the point that it was noticeable to the human eye. I buffed it with 3M swirl remover, and put 3 coats of zaino on 2 months ago. It's lasted ever since.....try it!

I have a new buffer, but I haven't had time to try it out yet. When I get the chance,I'm going to see if that indeed is what the problem is. I love everything else about the system. I want this to work for me!! Hopefully that will do the trick. I hate to complain, but it's a little frustrating.

Oh, and I used 3m's SWM for light cars on the GTP. I only did it by hand though.

If it is the case, and the paint is oxidized, the zaino will not bond properly and will not last. Doing it by hand with 3M doesn't do much...it's meant to be used w/ a machine.
