Re: trim moulding removal

I took the moldings off my T/A. It was held on with double sided tape. I just heated them up with a hairdrier and just worked it. I got the remaining residue off with meguires paint cleaner.
Heres a link to my cardomain page to see some pics without the moldings

Re: trim moulding removal

it can be a pain if the adhesive doesnt come off with the the molding. Get some goo gone and some strong fingers and pray, or you are in for a good couple hours of rubing

Re: trim moulding removal

Shouldn't some kind of string be used while take the molding off? I would think just pulling on it isn't good for the paint since it might accidently strip the paint if it isn't in good condition.

I think I'll be using floss on mine. No way of scratching the paint or doing damage.

Be careful pulling that molding since your car has been repainted. If you don't care what it looks like underneath go for it. Otherwise it may not have been removed when it was painted and you may have a red door or something underneath!

I am pretty sure the trim was just painted over so i think i will just leave it untill its time to paint the car. which i hope to do later this year. I just didnt want to start peeling it off and find holes under it that would have to be filled. So where are you at in Middleville? My grandpa has developed alot of land in Middleville and lives just off Bender rd on mullberry lane. I am also related to Fred Rock on Finkbiner rd ( huge old farm) I have a few other relitives around there also. I know Middleville is a small town so you might know some of them. I used to hunt that area almost every deer season.

Re: trim moulding removal

Thing is I don't know anyone in Middleville. I built a house here in 2000 after getting divorced. I'm just south of town about 3 miles. Off M37 across from the S&S Farm market. About every night for the past few weeks between 7 and 9pm we have deer come out of the state land into the field behind the house. There were 5 out there the other week and the other night I saw 4 and one last night. I'm not a hunter but I should buy a bow as I could shoot them right off my back deck.

uhm yeah.. good luck with that bud.. tried it last night and it kept snapping in half, it gets it started though, eventually i got it just under the edge and just pulled out enough to get my fingers under it and pulled it of very carfully, shouldnt be any problem enless you have different paint like the guy in here, its hell on the fingers too, and the shorter pieces on the front fenders on both sides where a bitch and a half! way more difficult than the doors and rear, looked like different double sided tape too, after i got it off i hit it again just in case with some simple green(love that stuff!) and this morning as soon as i got up i hand washed the whole car really well with dawn dish soap an hit it with meguiars gold class wax and man what a difference. Didnt think it would be as noticable because of all the pics ive seen of it but good lord does it clean it up, LOVE it, best mod ive done appearence-wise so far
