Scratches...

Now I don't have a show Camaro, I have a 1993 S10 Blazer, but its my first truck and its in great condition and I want to keep it mint. I'm not sure if I caused all the tiny scratches all over my truck, but I think I may have. I always dry my truck with a towel that my mother said wouldn't scratch my paint. However, at night under light I can see my paint job is all scratched up. Could I be scratching it with my towel? How could I get rid of these scratches? Thanks.

Is it flourescent light? My car looks pretty good in sunlight, but under flourescents, you can see everything.

Scratch-X, or buffing them out maybe?

But hey, your truck IS ten years old. If it still looks near-mint at this point, I'd say you've got it pretty good.

Same thing happens to me. First of all I think it is the crappy stock paint that they come with. Buff the car with a towel that is flat with no ridges. It will goes away and comes back everytime I wash mine, so don't worry about it to much.

What do you think something like this would cost me to repair?

- I have a bubble in my door that is under a factory color decal and is starting to come through. It is about 1" in diameter.

- In the front of my door it is starting to rust along the edge facing the front 1/4 panel. It is about 4" long.

- The bottoms of both of my front doors are rusting on the inside and is starting to bubble on the outside. Is there a point where it would is too bad that I have to get a new door? It is pretty much along the whole bottom of the door, but it is not all the way through to the outside.

- There are rock chips on the front of my hood that I want rid of.

- A good buffing and swirl remover as you said.

I am sure you would actually need to see this in person to give me a good price, but in your opinion, what would a good price to look for for these repairs? Thanks a bunch.

well from what i can tell about your blazer the door is rusted all t hell right? under the decal, the front and along the bottom, now is this rust on the outside or inside, Rust is really hard to get rid of, you can try rust convertests and what not but it usally will come back, cutting it out and replacing can leave open, uncoated metal for rust to for again esp is you weld in the patches, glue is the best way, I would say try to find a door with as little rust on it as possible, the stone chips would have to be either sanded out or filled, most body shop would sand them out and then the hood needs to be painted and for the new paint to match the old as closly as possible you would need to blend the doors and cowl (just spray clear on then), you will still see a difference most likly but then a good buff behind the doors should match thing up nice. the door would have to be removed, the new door matched with color, mounted, everything sanded and sprayed, then buffed, somwhere around $1500-$1800, body work is not cheap it is very labor intesive to have it done right. Sorry for all the spelling and grammer errors.
