I don't want a polka-dot car!!!

I live in downtown Chicago and am building a new garage so I have had to park outside for the last month.

Now, all over my car I have these very tiny white dots. I thought "no big deal I will just clay them off." However, that didn't work. When I clayed, a small amount was still left on the paint, now, it is just a smooth white dot.

I can't seem to figure out what it is (sap, fall-out, bug poo) and the best way I have found to get it of is to chip it off with my fingernail. Obviously, not something I want to do. Especially since doing that to the hood alone took me almost two hours.

I have not tried the weaker goo-be-gone and am wary to do so. However, I am open to any and all suggestions.

Thanks, Adam

I would think that if you can fleck it off with your fingernail, another go around with a good claybar should do the trick.

Put some lacquer thinner on a rag and go over the areas very lightly. This may leave some very light scratches on dark colors, like if you go through carwashes, so you might need to polish up the paint and then wax it.

Someone will say this is going to take the paint off but it will be just fine unles you realy scrub it. This is also GREAT for tree sap if you have a lot of it on your car and don't want to spend hours claying it. It'll maybe take 10% of the time.

I always used gasoline to remove tree sap/road tar etc.
