How long to wait 'till wax?

I just had the car painted, and was wondering how long I should wait before waxxing it.

Your painter should have told you a time.

With aftermarket two stage paint, it is common practice to allow fresh paint to "outgas" or cure about a month's time before putting wax on it. Most two stage paint processes claim that the paint is wax ready as soon as it is cured and released to the owners. Check with your painter just to make sure.

My painter said to wait a month, I just was wondering if he was being over cautious, or if it really is necessary to wait that long.

I would agree with your painter. Aftermarket paint tends to be softer, so it may need more time to cure and harden before adding any chemicals to its surface.
