Post How long should you leave wax on?

I am detailing my car tomorrow night and it will be about 80-90 degrees. How long should I leave the wax coat on before I buff it out. I am using Meguiars if that makes any difference. How many coats should I do? Should I cover it up with my car cover since we are in monsoon out here. I doubt it will rain but there might be dust. what should I do? Thanks for your help.

Which Meguiar's wax is it? The reason I ask is because they make a ton of waxes and some have different drying times than others. Some you can wax the entire car before you buff it out, others must be done one section at a time.

I'm guessing that you are using a product that requires you to buff after doing one small section. This means, when you see the wax haze over, immediately buff it out. You can always do the finger wipe test, if it wipes clean, remove the residue, otherwise let it sit a minute or two longer. At 80 to 90 degrees, it will dry pretty quickly with little humidity. I'd say after 5 to 10 minutes, give it a whirl.

Definitely cover the car if you can! Wax and silicone based products are known to attract dust by nature anyway!
