I stay far away from thos "as seen on TV" products like DS, also DS is about 15 years old, (the infomercial was made years and years ago) Any current product made by Meguiars or Mothers would be better to use. I had a friend who used that "No Touch" stuff (another "as seen on TV" product) and it ruined the paint on his red Blazer.

I have the Durashine on my Ford, put it on over a year ago, and guess what, still no water spots. Looks great, dont have to wash it.

durashine is actually perty good.

I use their wash as well. Good stuff if you ask me, not the best shine, but good paint protection.

Just put it on today. The shine was just as good as any wax. Did not seem to hide the swirl marks like wax does.
But the sheeting action was amazing!!!!!!! I mean the car was almost dry in 10 mins.
Let you know how durable it is.
I wonder since it is not a wax, if you can put coat on after coat to build it up and cover the swirl marks?

Ok, here is the deal with Dura, have ya'll not ever seen the infomercial where they take some Durashine polish and neutralize an acid with it when mixed together? if you have seen it, let's step back to basic high school chemistry, what neutralizes acid? answer: alkaline. Yup, that is why the paint sheets with Durashine as Dura is a high alkaline stripper, naturally the paint will not bead water if it has been stripped. Another high alkaline product: Dawn dishwashing liquid, Dawn is excellent for stripping wax off of paint. Durashine leaves nothing on the surface for paint protection. Because it is an stripper, it will not as mentioned above fill swirl marks.

BTW, I do not know if the infomercial is stilling running on TV or not selling the Durashine but I can buy as much of it as I want for $2.00 at my local Big Lots (kinda like the Odd Lots stores) and when a product makes it to that store it is a good indication that the product either is on closeout or not produced any longer.

Other things at Big Lots: Slick 50, DuraLube, Poly Gly Coat, and No Touch wax.

ANY product from a reputable company like Mothers, Meguiars, Liquid Glass, Klasse, Turtle Wax, Eagle One, etc. etc. would be better than Durashine for your paint.

I agree completely with Kevin! It's amazing that companies spend more on marketing gimmicks and marketing in general than the actual product is worth itself. If they'd take more of those marketing dollars and invest in some R&D and product development instead, they'd have a much better chance at making a more serious competitive product, with a decent formulation. If the product is good, it and it's customers will speak for itself, and there's really no need for huge marketing expenses to fool people into creating sales. In fact, most of the high quality detailing products are not advertised by their makers through conventional means, yet are regarded as among the best of the best, with customers of course. Fact is, there is a LOT of marketing hype especially in the detailing world, keep a keen eye and judge for yourself when choosing what to protect and shine your car with! Of course, common sense is one of the best ways to judge anything...
