Post To AC or not to AC...that is the question........

Ok, I really can't decide if I want to pull the AC out while the motor is out or leave it in. I don't think I care either way. It never really gets hotter than 95 in the middle of summer here. My only concern as stated before is the windows fogging up.

Should I pull it or leave it? I know the weight savings is only like 40lbs. But on the other hand it's also front end weight.

Jason,

Forty pounds of the front end is a bunch to me. Which is more important, performance or luxury?
You might want to look into how the factory dealt with the fogging problem on AC-delete cars.
Now is the time to dump the power steering and brakes too, and who needs a heater?

Good Luck,

Daren

I really don't want to lose the power steering or Heater. I have to have some way to get fog off the windows if it starts to form. I may pull the AC out though. I'm gonna have to make my desision tomorrow before I put the motor in. I guess I could do it later, but would be A LOT easier now.

i got rid of my AC a couple years ago, no problem with the windshield fogging up, it still clears up just fine with the dash vent. i dont miss my AC any. all 5 cars ive owned so far either had AC that wasnt working and i didnt bother to charge, or had the AC pulled out of it by me. my work truck doesnt have it either. heat just doesnt really bother me

at the time that i pulled my AC i did it cause i was pissed about it always being in the way when working on the car, i didnt even care about the weight back then

Thats OK, I don't plan on being in the car nearly as long as you. I'll be back in the pits having my Evian water before you get to the Ticket shack.

HAHA

i pulled mine for the same reason as Chevyguy3. Now how do you pull the heater core with the cooling lines running through it? Saw this on my buddy's '93 Trans Am and he was wondering.

Anybody got the GM part number for the AC delete bracket/pulley for a 4th gen lt1 (93)?

The draglites have been mounted, my glass hood is on the way, and the diet goes on.

ok... IT's GONE.... For those that want to know. It's 30lbs!

That's 30lbs for the Condensor, Compressor, All Lines and hoses.

It's a little less than what I thought it would be but oh well. It's still 30lbs off the front end!

Later,
Jason
