Question How long does it take for water spots to become permanent?

How long does it take for water spots to become permanently etched into your clear coat? I noticed a few water spots on my car last week and I'm not gonna be able to get to the car until Saturday. If they are already etched in (I just got the car so they could have been there for a while) is there any way to hide them or even remove them?

Try and remove them if you can by washing and drying the car. You can use clay this may help remove them if they are not etched already. I can send some samples of my products if you like. I am offering them to anyone who ask's.

Thanks

On fresh water spots like that, they often be removed with an instant detailer spray, if that does not work rub them with a cotton cloth and some white vinegar. If that does not work try a clay bar, if the clay bar does not work you could try a mild abrasive like 3M Swirl Mark Remover part number 39009.

If they are fresh spots vinegar should dissolve them. If they have been waxed over even once, they won't dissolve well because the wax will prevent the vinegar from contacting the minerals. Then you'll need a rougher treatment. I'm sure you know the danger of dulling the paint with an abrasive compound, so be gentle.
