Compounding question

I have a sebring silver z28 in sunny south florida and it seems the sun has eaten right through the clearcoat and is leaving the paint looking dull and feeling like sandpaper. its only where the sun directly hits (spoiler, hood, roof). Now on the roof i actually used a razor and "shaved" a layer of that crap off and there is some nice looking paint under there! my friends dad has a body shop and and can compound the whole car and wax it for a 100 bucks. Do you guys think this will work? Cuz i hae no where near enough money for a new paintjob.

For paint in that condition, I would:

1. Clay
2. Compound (possibly with multiple products)
3. Polish (possibly with multiple products)
4. Wax or Seal with fav product

If you can get all this done for $100, go for it!

If it is thru the clear coat, forget it, paint it. You will never get the base coat to hold a buff, polish, or compound wax job......
