CLOSED: 93-97 LT1 T56 Trans [GETTING MINE REBUILT]

The used one I got turned out to be beat up, bad gears, forks, etc. Dam.

Looking for another, preferably rebuilt or at least VERIFIED good.

Please respond even if you don't have one, but know of a good place that sells this rebuild trans.

Tremec # 1386-000-016

Thanks in advance.

You are aware that the 1993 T56 has significantly different gear ratios and a lower torque capacity than 94-97?

4_3

Also lacks skip shift, but that's a plus.

Interesting link there. I'm no expert and was going off Tremec's own guide

Where are you located? I have a 95 that has been go through and verified. It was pulled when the head gasket blew.

Thanks, but I've found a place to have mine rebuilt in Orlando. I'm in SW FL, so CA would be a haul to have one shipped.

MODS: I'm happy to delete this thread or leave it open for information above.

What you seem to dismiss as an "interesting link" is in fact 100% correct with regard to the unique 1993 T56. Yes, dimensions are the same, but internals are not.

In almost 20 years of working on these cars and helping LT1 owners on sites like this, I have never found an exception to that table in FAQ 4.3. Tremec wasn't even the manufacturer in 1993.... it was Borg-Warner. B-W sold the complete production line to Tremec in 1997, and Tremec moved it to Mexico.

But believe what you want. I was simply trying to help you by making you aware of the difference.

Injuneer is right. The 93 is different, I have one.

Injuneer, maybe you or someone else can help me. I have a t56 LT1 transmission that only has a 1000 miles on it (basically new) from a 95. What do you think it is worth. I would like to sell it but not sure of value?
