Stepped headers

Has anyone here found it worthwhile to go with Stepped Headers? 1 3/4 to 1 7/8, or otherwise? Thanks.

It is supposed to be benificial . . . err Im not sure if it would be noticable without a pretty maxed out combo eg heads big cam and true duals . Check out edelbrocks new stepped long tube ls1 header . They also come with volocity merge collectors very similar to qtp's for a fraction of the cost . You WILL need to ship them out for coating though as I think there only available in black . which ones were you thinking of ?? Kooks ??

Yes, I was wondering how much air flow you'd need to be doing to make it beneficial. I would assume that a blower or H/C would like the stepped design.

OneFlyn, you're definitely thinking big.. but it sounds like your car wants it!

I do like the looks, design and sound of Kooks. The Edelbrocks look like a little bit of work to play with, lookingt at coating, the slip on collector, etc... But, I not confident that the extra moola (for the Kooks) is really worth it in the end. I think I may grab a set of those Pacesetters and dyno them. See how they do.

1 7/8 - 2" Step, 3.5" Collectors

Sort of a tricky deal, for some combinations they work, others they don't....

For the most part a Standard 1 2/3" or even 1 7/8" header will work just fine. The Most powerful LT1 car ever built used regular ole 1 3/4" Hookers, although this isn't to say he wouldn't have picked up with a better/larger header.
