Shopping for a Vette
for any of you guys looking for c5s,,,,,i saw a yellow either 98 or 99 in the buysell today.....it was a rebuild....so it wouldent be worth buying unless u were planning on keeping it for a very long time......they were asking 34......but im sure they would take 30
Thanks for posting that one Todd, anyone else with vet deals please post them. Rebuilt 99? That guy must of bagged it or put a ton of mileage on it. Not the one for me especially with that expensive yellow paint.
Of course a rebuilt motor should almost be good as new? I'm watching the price of the C5 come down by the week. I doubt they'll make many 04 C5's. Very little demand.
Hopefully the C6 will come out early.

Yo Drum not sure if you have seen these pics yet, but for you or anyone else who hasnt seen the shots of the C6 yet there you go. From what I can see it looks worth the wait, if things go as planned I might be looking at one myself.

Guys please stay away from these rebuilds . They used to come through our shop for frame work etc . To write off a 40 000 $ car there has to be close to 40 000 $ damage . To make money rebuilding a write off you have to cut corners . Be careful and get it checked and checked and checked again if its a private sale .
Also dont buy a car that came from usa unless you have a way of confirming that its not a scrap car . There is a group that brings vettes over that have been writen off , not for rebuild but for the scrapper . They get re registered up here as never being in an accedent and can be sold without an R title . Its a big loop hole . Some of you may have seen the blue vette at my old work , that thing was fixed and sold without an R .

I disagree twitch! icbc is more likely to write off a viper for example before a cheaper car..........they do this because the parts are so exspensive.....a vipers hood is 16,000 from dodge just imagine how much it would be if a viper rear ended someone.......look at all the ferraris on ebay that have salvage titles....they barely have any damage to them.............btw yellow was not an option till 2000 for the c5 vette
I went vet shopping and came home dissappointed. Started at Poco Carter and the 03 black coupe they had for $57,900.00 is sold. They had 2 more outside under the awning, an 03 black Z06 and a 03 anniversary model. For $5,900.00 all you get is a special wine coloured exterior and shale interior with embroidard headrests and badging, not worth it.
I don't even like the special colouring.
The blue 04 vert in the showroom said don't touch but already had a nasty scratch on the passenger door. Went to flag chevy next, saw a very nice silver 03 Z06, a blue coupe and a 02 vert demo in the showroom. This demo had scratches, nics and swirl marks plus they wanted too much money. The silver 03 Z06 retailed for $77,000.00 and the salesman drpped that price to $70,000.00 right away. I said more like $60,000.00 and he laughed and I left. There appears to be lots of Z06's new and used around. You guys are right about waiting, can't drive one for a few months anyways. Rumor is 04 will be short production year and the 05 C6 will be out next fall. I can wait for that unless a smokin deal comes my way on a newer C5. A big red flag goes out on all rebuilts too, thanks for the warning Roy even though you like to flame me calling me dumbhawk all the time. No big deal to me but for someone starting a new business venture this goes against the principles of having a successful business. Calling me dumb is dumb on your part cause you're losing potential business from me and my friends who have a few bucks to throw around on cars. Having a good reputation goes a long ways in business and it will make or break you. You nay-say almost everything a say like I doubt it'll be that easy to sell your car or you repeat the fact I'm taking a big hit. The big hit you refer to isn't that bad if you get a great deal on your new set of wheels and as far as me buying a new car every year before the 02 firehawk I owned a new 95TA eight years ago, get your facts straight. You know more about the mechanics of a car than I'll ever know and I give you credit for that but you need a lesson in your attitude and business 101.

If that's some kind of apoligy I except it Roy. I told you a long time ago I didn't like to be called dumb, who does? Like I said, I don't go through a lot of cars. Before the 02 firehawk my last new car was a 95TA. Before that I had a RSSS 70 camaro modded with over 400rwhp, owned that one for years too. When my deal is done then I'll tell you how big a hit I take. I talked the dealership down $8,000.00 off the list price of the hawk and that isn't dumb. I'll do better than that on a vet. Depreciation is a fact of life on a new car, with a used car you have repair bills and modding expenses. Either way cars cost money that we never hardly get back. My feelings aren't hurt, I've been called a lot worse and I do wish you luck in your business Roy, you just need to kiss the public's butt now.
j/k. One more thing on the vet, they dropped their financing rate from 2.9% to 1.9% over four years. That's better than last week and the deal may get down to 0% soon enough. No ring in to win on the vet either.
I bet that'll change soon too. Another thing I noticed, the finish of the paint on my hawk is better than any car in the showroom cause I use Zaino, thanks Sal and Mrak for the best shine money can buy.

well steve you did say you like to change cars every five years in another thread, thats when i mentioned that you should lease cars rather then buy them outright. thats where i go the idea you go through cars frequently. good luck on the search.
Mrak, I'll take a case of Z-2, Z-6 and a bunch of applicator pads plus ???. That new Z-2 is pink not orange? Sal's been tweaking the formula again. I've been spreadding my zaino too thick, some guys get 3 coats out of an ounce. My first winter coat was 2 ounces.
I hadn't polished in months so I think most of it wore off. Future coats will go on thin. Vet shopping is going to be a long process, I'm waiting for the price to come down more first like most of you guys said.
