That sounds like a great deal Mrak, I'll check it out. I usually deal with Gary Vit at Carter on Lougheed and Willington. He gave me smokin deals on a new 95 TA and my 02 firehawk. They just go into the computer to find every new vet in the province or the country for that matter. It's better to deal with the lot that has the car though. At least they can point me in the right direction cause the burnaby Carter doesn't sell vets, they will order one of course. That vet I mentioned from Eagle Ridge Pontiac, the 02 Z06 price was dropped to $59,900.00 from $62,900.00 last week. It's in the paper, don't know any more except I think it's been there since new cause they keep advertizing it. It's electric blue and a loaded 6-speed, gotta go manual again. The 2 in Poco Carter are a 03 50th anniversary black coupe (drool) and a 03 Zo6 (double drool). I'll post details on buying in the states tomorrow when I find out. Anyone else knowing of a near new vet or viper please let me know. I thought the 04 vet was going to be a C6, guess not? If that's the case the best deals are still a year away. About the $40,000.00 depreciation in three years, show me a 2000 vet going for under $20,000.00 and I'll buy it right now. That amount of a depreciation is a bit of a over statement but no doubt I'll eat a lot of dough on any new car, that's the price you pay for your dream car and trouble free maintanance. I'm finding it hard to sleep thinking about a new vet, same as just before I bought my firehawk. The rare bird is all but sold already, sorry Kal2k. But unless I get a great deal I wont buy yet, patience is a virtue. It's so hard to look at your dream car and pretend to the salesman you can get a better deal somewhere else or really don't want that car when you are itchin to park it in your garage.

I also bought the extended warranty on the firehawk which I can transfer to a new vet. Gotta love american muscle and GM.

Here's some info I dug up on-line about the C6 vet; Engine-LS2, Tranny-Tremec T-56, performance handling package available, Tires- front- P245/40Z18's, back-P285/35ZR19's those are stock, Convertable-CM7 power top (finally), DVD navigation with GPS, 6.5 inch LCD colour display with touch-screen, voice recognition (talk about high-tech) and here's the exterior colours; 10U- Artic white, 19U-Lemans Blue Metallic, 27U- Precision Red, 41U- Black, 67U-Machine Silver Metallic, 71U-Daytona Sunset Orange Metallic (oh-yes). You can still order the Milennium Yellow or the Magnetic Red Metallic 2 (sing it Prince), all vets are in leather too. Let me know what colour you guys think looks best without a pic? I'm still waiting for the sticker shock.

Here's some more info on the C6; Tires are Goodyear F1's, Performance Handling package includes engine oil and tranny cooler, stiffer springs and stabilazer bar, specific shock absorbers, larger brakes with crossed drilled rotors, heads-up display includes dot-matrix readouts for street mode, track-mode with g-meter, Keyless push button start and touch door handle to lock doors, tunes are provided by a 7-speaker Bose system, interior colours are; Ebony, Cashmere, Cobalt Red or Steel Gray. You gotta know more than the salesman to get the ultimate deal.

You do realize you have to pay the tax on that . Factor the total amount paid including tax and any other junk the dealer tries to tack on .

70 000 $ zo6
tax
80 150 $ zo6

Value in 3 years

40 000 . zo6

Give or take but thats where I got the figures from . Buy the 40 000 $ zo6 and buy it private to save some $$ .

Yo Twitch, buy it privately for $40,000.00 and save is great advice and your theory on depreciation may be true too if you pay the full retail price which is out of the question. I can get a new coupe for around $50,000.00. A $80,000.00 car is out of my range though. Still, show me a 2000 Z06 for $40,000.00 in mint condition with low mileage and I'll buy it. I will not buy someone else's problem. Repairs are very expensive after the warranty and with this car payment who can afford repairs on top of everything else, plus used cars have worn tires, rock chips, swirls, could be bagged a little too or who know's what else? Bottem line, I'll look at new and used and hopefully make the right decision. There's a rumor going around that the new C6 will have an optional SUPERCHARGER, look out.

One more thing about depreciation, you only pay it if you sell it and tax is a neccasary evil that we all pay so I right off the tax money right away and forget about it. It's too depressing thinking about the taxes we pay in this country.

I agree the tax is a joke . 50 000 $ is an insane deal on a new coupe though , Id consider going that route but not selling your new hawk to do it . Im just trying to make sure your thinking this one through .

Hey Drumhawk...you seem like the type of guy every "car guy" loves to buy a car off of. You buy a brand new, awsome car, take care of it, mod it a little and then a year after owning it, you sell it and hit the "hit" FOR us. You are the one loosing here no matter how you slice it. If you only own a brand new car, especially a rare one like a firehawk, you are going to take a huge hit on depreciation. I honestly don't understand why you didn't just buy a vet in the first place.

I think we all need to just be satisfied with the cars we own or else we will all go broke trying to keep up with the next guy. Just buy a car you like in the first place, do what you have to do to it and keep it...you will have more money in the long run.

I concur!!

People always say to me " Now that your married, why don't you sell ur sports car and buy something more useful, like a van or SUV?" I just look at them like they're crazy and say "Why would I do that? What does being married have to do with not owning a sports car? The car is paid for, and it doesn't cost me anything to keep. Yes it takes up space when I don't drive it but so what? After it's done being worked on, it'll drive like a dream. I'll never get my money back for it so why would I want to sell it? If I want something different I'll buy it, but until then I'm happy with what I got."

To answer Johnny question about 2003 anniv vettes.

Whenever you look in the paper or on the lot everyone always refers to 2003's as a anniversary edition. To my knowledge there is no special badging on those whatsoever. The true 50th anniversary comes in a special color that they won't offer again for any year. It is a 2003 only color. The interior, instead of being black is a shale color as are the carpets. The seats have 50th anniversary badging embroided on each headrest, there is 50th anniversary badging above and behind of the front wheels on both sides. The top comes in a shale color as well and the wheels come in a champagne color. It also has the next gen suspension in it. If you would like a ride in it Drum, let me know. The convertible is dope and don't purchase a hardtop of any kind.
