Actually Steve, the whole fuel map went out of whack. the car was running well with the AFR in the 12- 13.5 range and then BANG. 15.94, and stayed there. The starts running rough. It stumbles and burps

I had to richen the VE map by about 15 points throughout (which is A LOT) just to get the AFR back to the 13's and allow the car to run without embarrassing myself.

I sprayed water on the headers and all eight tubes are "hot". 'm at a loss.

I pulled four plugs. They all are showing rich - given that I richened up the tune a lot to get home - and also somewhat oily.

Shaun it spiked all of a sudden.. Did you get into boost or did it do anything else right before the spike. You were not data logging by chance were you?

Steven

See that I never figured out, I mean the manual does state that, but why is it so bad if you're tranny is in neutral, thats like coasting on the HWY isn't it?

If you tilt the car nose up for towing, most of the tranny fluid will stay in the rear/tailshaft case. If you go too far/too fast while in tow with the D/S turning you'll get insufficient lube for the rotating shafts and forward bearings. This info is in a special "towing" manual that GM puts out.

PS the law forbids "coasting" on the highway, really!

rather than risking cracking your headers from spraying water on them do you want to borrow my lazer temp gauge?

just a note your readings of rich and lean may be off due to the burning oil. may have ruined your o2 sensor.

also shaun i say keep driving your car on a daily basis, when i had my motor rebuilt it took nearly two months for the blue to disappear. i too thought the rings were fuct and i needed yet another rebuild, but it went away and they sealed up fine. BTW did you find out what kind of rings you have, some take longer to seal then others.

mine are plasma moly as well, shuan just keep driving it, break it in. same problem with mine ask matt. matt says your burning more then i was, but i just realized you have single exhaust, your blue is of 8 cylinders, i had true duals at the time so the blue we saw was of 4 cylinders. keep driving and wear them in, we thought my new motor was shot as well, and it started to get worse before it got better to. your readings may be off to due to the o2 sensor getting fouled up by the oil. find a tune that let it run normally and just daily drive it to work and back.

Hmmmm It could be an O2. That eing said, they are about $500 and I have to special order from FAST. Better test other things first.

SHaun, lesson #1, don't run o2's on a new engine, but I guess with your fast thats kinda impossible o2's don't like oil, especially when they are soo far back that they don't even get much heat to let the oil burn off.
