No headers yet but they are near the top of my list of mods.

I am. I think its mandatory based on what others have found. I've had one check valve DTC where it was sticking open. LTs really work the check values hard.

It will throw a code to remove the AIR system for sure, but I think thats the worst it'll do. If I recall, they're just there to help preheat the cats faster so that the cats start working sooner, just after start up, when emissions are worse.

I am thinking of removing the stuff as I just had a P1415 code come back the other day (check valve not opening/closing properly), even with the restrictors. But I may double check to make sure I don't have a bad gasket on the AIR fitting.

Thats the thing with a restrictor plate - in between the fittings you need a gasket, then the plate, then another gasket, which makes more room for errors/problems.

I took off my EGR and AIR system w/o ever throwing a code. I did use LS1-edit later just to make sure it wouldn't ever cause one for sure. Now with the LT's I just installed today, I have no hook-ups!!!

I'm not TOO sure how Aircare will handle the readings from our OBD-II ports if the emissions equipment is removed. Likely, since they only see DTCs it will be fine and go unnoticed, but don't quote me on that. That's the only grey point.

I did some diging around on ls1tech and was told its only some brands of headers that eat check valves . . . . I have no idea if this is true but I couldnt find a case relating to kooks so I think Im going to just run them as is and if they die .. . . . in which case Ill do the !air mod then.

How big was your air tube from the header itself chris ?? I cant stick my pinkie finger in the tube . . . . looks pretty small
