Local Shops that Flow Heads?
Re: Local Shops that Flow Heads?
Hey Roy I guess you still don’t understand the heads I have were NOT ported locally. They are originally from CNC Cylinder Heads, Inc. based in Florida. Also how can you say that this guy’s work is no good when you have never even seen, tested or spoken to anyone who has used his heads? From the research that I have done, he is the only guy locally that I would take my heads to if I were to get them worked on. I mean this guy has been porting heads for a living for almost 10 years now. It’s not like this is some hack, who works in a shop and ports heads in his spare time. As I said in my previous post, SD Performance is the only shop in all of BC that has a Superflow 600 flowbench. Also it is computerized and has velocity probes. What this means is that when the heads are flowed the computer regulates all the variables and insures that there is no human error, as opposed to an un-computerized flow bench where the operator must adjust the variables manually. Also with the velocity probes Dave is able to determine if there is any turbulence in the cylinder head caused by the air rushing over the cylinder head surface.
Re: Local Shops that Flow Heads?
i KNOW he didnt port your heads. i just stated that i would NEVER buy a set of heads that was ported locally.
i had a shop, which shall remain nameless, tell me that they could port heads that flowed 240ish and that that was as good as i was gonna get. another shop asked me why i wanted to port lt1 heads as they flow good enough already.
im not talking about any backyard hack, im talking about so called prominent local shops.
i dont care if this guys got a flow bench made by NASA, i would never pay the man to port (experiment, since they obviously havent had experience with ltx and lsx heads) my heads.
im not sure of the exact numbers but why dont you ask matt how much local shops wanted to charge him just to get valves redone. id would gladly spend the money on loyd elliott

Re: Local Shops that Flow Heads?
Roy Please refer to posts 8 & 9 in this thread about his experience with LT1/LT4 heads. Also I was not suggesting that I would take my heads to him if I wanted to have them ported, all I said was IF I were to get them ported LOCALLY he would be the guy that I would got to. Also for any kind of flow testing it would be cheaper to get him to flow your heads then to have them shipped somewhere to be flow tested, not to mention stupid because most shops would do the flow testing on exactly the same equipment.
