It's an inside joke/It's something I always bug Dave about. I don't mean anything from it and I wouldn't take it personaly.

Re: lighting vs lt-1

I just read the Hot Rod Mag article of the 2004 SRT-10 Ram versus the 2004 Lightning. In the article the Lightning ran a 14.10 at 100.xx and the SRT-10 ran something around(cant quite remember) a 13.6x or so @ 103-105. I read the article earlier today and remember the Lightning ran the 14.1 for sure but the memory is fuzzy about the Ram.

track times dont mean much on the street. i too like the look of the lightnings and for a truck its pretty damn respectable, but the majority of lightnings here i doubt will give any 4th gen any troubles.

Re: lighting vs lt-1

This thread is damn funny.

1- L's feel slow (not fast) from the inside due to the large size, elevated ride height and smooth power curve.

2- A stock LT1 would get its *** handed to it by a 2001 plus stock L. (My L stock went 13.6x@103 mph all day long) The best in my Camaro stock was 14.0X@100.x mph.

3- An LS1 will beat a stock 2001 L

4- 2001 plus Lightning have great traction. (1.82 60 foot times with stock rubber and no Susp. mods)

5- Chip, Filter, Pulley on a Lightning = mid 12's in an L at 107mph (I.E easy to mod) (in fact low 12's are just as cheap but risk of throwing a rod increases)

I have owned both and LT1 F-body and a 2002 Lightning so I speak only from experience.

On the streets anything can happen. Also driver plays a huge part.

Good luck and have fun. That’s what it’s about.

I have a few Videos of what a slightly modded LT1 6 speed will do against a Lightning with $500 in mods if anyone wants to host it)

My friend has a 2003 Lightning. He brought it to the dyno and pulled some impressive numbers. It's fast but he got beat by a CTS-V and a Viper from a roll. Well, duh!
And Twitch, about the Odyssey...my buddy's parents had one a while back and at 80,000 kms it's THIRD transmission was on its way out.

Re: lighting vs lt-1

A stock any year LT1 vs a stock 2001-2002 Lightning, given equal drivers, the LT1 will get spanked. Same car vs. a stock 2003-2004 Lightning, closer, but only because Ford changed the load rating so the 03-04 L's sit way to high in the back.

THIS is assuming that the LT1 is in great running order. Your talking about cars with mileage(some alot) on them vs. brand new vehicles with nothing wrong.

i remember one of my first races was against a lightning.

was driving on the hwy and this lightning pulls up beside me and then just hammered on it.. he took off. i was in 5th and too lazy to downshift, so i just floored it.. soon enough i caught up and took him to schoool
