Dumb question about New England Dragway for you guys...
I have heard that tracks at sea level are the best to race on, right? So New England Dragway should not be far above sea level, am I right? What would be the best track to race on? I am curious, because of my times last time I went to the track. I am expecting to break 12's, but could only run a 13.5 with a 2.3 60'. Let me know, thanks.

Yes, tracks at or near sea level are considered best to run on. However you also need to check the conditions of that day. This includes barometric pressure, humidity, temperature and corrected altitude. During that summer months it is not uncommon to see the corrected altitude show 2500 or so ft. Very hard to put big numbers on the board in bad air. Usually best air conditions are in April, early May and October. Many of the racers there will have hand held air stations, ask one if they will tell you what the conditions are that day.
Best time at NED is usually early morning, provided the track is well prepped. Altitude usually climbs during the day and then drops in the evening again but the dew point is more likely to create problems.

Thanks guys. I guess I'll be looking into some LCA's soon, along with some DR's.

That's EXCELLENT, Slowhawk. Wish I could get traction like that. I can't seem to pick up any traction. I'm sure I can get into 12's, just gotta buy some drag radials. I really don't want to, I'd rather spend money on performance first. Then, after my car is almost complete, I'll look into some drag radials. For now, I have a friend who is going to be buying some. We'll see how I do then.

If you are running on Wednesday/Friday nights traction is pathetic. The only possible exception if being one of the first cars down the track ona friday following a track rental when they spray the track.
Traction is much better on Saturdays and Sundays when they allow cars with slicks to run.
