Ive read about plugs being to cold well now Im confused,,,,so what plug do i need for my car? or are the accel shorty header plugs ok once I gap them back to the .035

thanks

Re: What type of plugs?

I run the AC delco R42LTS plugs. $1.39 fom Pep boys and they work great so far up to a 200 shot. They are cheap and available anywhere.

Re: What type of plugs?

will those work in my car? will they be to cold? will it hurt my NA performance? are they shorties, cause I need a short plug with my headers.
I have Accel's right now,,,arent those cold enough and if I gap them to .035 shouldnt they be ok? or is it the grounding strap length on those that are not good?

so whats the big issue with plugs anyways?

Re: What type of plugs?

I also used the NGK TR6 plugs. They seem to be the most popular for nitrous. Autolite also makes a plug that works well for nitrous, I don't remeber the part number for sure but I think it was the 104.

Re: What type of plugs?

I went to ADvance and got me 8 TR6's and 8 autolite 103.......I guess they are cheap enough to buy both...but which should I use? ...gap them at .035 correct?

Arent the 103's colder than the TR6's

how come the cylinder part that goes into the head is so much longer than the accel plugs that I had in there. I mean its almost twice the amount of screw-in area than the others.

I put the TR6's gapped at .035 in and just ran them all the way down till I could get a good torque on them with the wrench...cranked the car up and everything seems to be OK..I was afraid the pistons were gonna hit the plug...

Re: What type of plugs?

I put the NGK's in and now Im told that having so much thread area in my cylinders will cause major problems......

Re: What type of plugs?

The 103's are one step colder than the TR6's. The equivalent to the TR6 is the Autolite 104. I run the 104 at 0.040 for NA driving, 103 at 0.035 for a 125-shot, and Champion S57YC at 0.028 for the 300-shot.

If I'm not mistaken, you asked "Arent the 103's colder than the TR6's"? I tried to help you by answering that question.... sorry I irritated you.... I won't let that happen again

Re: What type of plugs?

nah dude dont worry about it. you didnt irritate me at all. I went ahead and pulled the TR6 out and put my accels back in..the TR6 are not for my car. They are to long a plug. I just wish somebody would have clarified that before I went thru the trouble of putting them in....but hey a good thing is im dont to 45mins changing my plugs. when I get the correct plugs i should be down to about 30mins.....
the TR6's already had carbon biuld up in the thread area that stuck in to far in my heads.
