Stuck on a cam choice...
I've got a nice sack of change to play with in the next 2 weeks but I'm torn between which cam to use.
I want to use the XE 230/236 cam because I'm getting my heads P&P, getting new valves and double valve springs, a timing chain, etc. I'm also running headers and new plug wires. (Stage 1)
After that, I will be broke. So for Stage II ( beginning Early August)
I want to get colder plugs, a NX kit, bottle warmer, purge valve, pressure gauge, etc. and a GMMG chambered exhaust system.
The problem is I don't want to take the heads and crap back off to install a N20 cam 6 months later. So, should I:
a) get the N20 cam and install it now.
b) get the XE 230/236 cam and not worry about the power difference.
c) get a cam custom grinded and try and make a compromise.

Go with B. Nitrous cams are typically for pure drag cars. If your car is a daily driver then go with the XE 230/236 cam. You will probably be better off with it, even since your nitrous setup won't even begin for another 8 month. Custom ground is also an option but you'll probably run into more tuning woes with it. Many people from the LT1 Edit list and the such run the XE 230/236 so I'm sure they would be readily willing to help you tune it, and you could probably pick a program right off the list and run it in the car and have it perform decently compared to starting from scratch with the custom grind. You know you pretty much HAVE to reprogram the PCM when changing the valvetrain and heads around that much, don't you? That's another $200 for LT1 Edit right there.
