Spraying through shifts

I have a built 700R4. I was curious as to what it can hurt on the tranny if I sprayed through the shifts.

Well depending on how much torque you are making at the shift points will have a lot to do with it. But the weak points in the tranny are going to be the planetary or sprag I would think. I used to run a 700r4 behind a 396bb in a chevelle with a 150shot years ago and it held up pretty good. Never got off the spray while making shifts unless the car got loose.

cef97ws6 said it well. I'd be cautious with a hi-po setup spraying through the shifts on a stock tranny though.

I am about mid to low 12's on motor only. I havent able to get to the track since a few mods. I have a built 700R4. Looks like I will find out in spring if it will handle it

My built 4L60E hasn't had a problem yet running 11.0's. I spray out the hole and through the shifts. If I ever get the tires to hook on a nitrous launch, I should see 10.80's with the traps I'm running.
