Retarding Timing
Retarding Timing
I am going to be installing another wet kit on my car in the next month or so and was wondering how much timing I need to pull out with a 150 shot. I already have a Madwolf tune and don't know what I should do. Should I get another tune from him for nitrous or run some type of ignition box to pull out the timing when on the juice??? I want to keep full timing when N/A and then pull out whatever is needed with the spray. Also, what box would be the best?? I have heard some people talking about the Mallory box.
Re: Retarding Timing
No doubt in my mind, you will be satisfied with the MSD 6BTM. I think i paid 380 from VRE for mine. The box is amazing, perfect for what you need. You get a control *** that you can mount inside your car, on your dash wherever, and retard your timing up to 15 degrees with the touch of your fingertips. You CAN do it with a tune, but I would just buy the box, it is an awesome ignition, and you could just turn a *** and go from your NA full timing to your spray setting in a second. My vote is the MSD 6BTM.
Re: Retarding Timing
You wouldn't want to have it reprogrammed for a "nitrous" tune.... you would be throwing away power when running NA. An external box it the best way to handle it. You might want to ask Madwolf how much retard to run, since only he knows how much advance he programmed in with the current tune.
The MSD Digital-6 seems to be a good unit.
I'll move this to the "N2O Tech" forum where it belongs.

Re: Retarding Timing
Run an MSD timing box with the chips and ya can change the degrees to what ya want just by pluging in a different chip, and have it wired to come on when the nitros is armed.
Ya need to pull 2* per 50HP of hose to be safe. When ya get dialed in ya can go less IF ya are brave or got another engine at home.
