Retard Timming

I am looking for a way to retart timming from the drivers seat. the problem I am running into is that I have multiple coils/Delteq system.

Something like this:
http://store.summitracing.com/defaul...=egnsearch.asp

Does anyone know if they make anything compatable with multiple coil systems? Or can I use the ignition box for multiple coils http://store.summitracing.com/defaul...=egnsearch.asp then plug that into the retard box in to that ignition box??

Re: Retard Timming

That's what I run in my car and it makes it really nice to pull timing.

I'm not familiar if you can hook this up with the Delteg or not.

I don't think any ing boxs will work w/ the delteq. You would have to wire the ign box between the delteq ign module and the coils, which in the delteq the coils mount into the ign module.

Re: Retard Timming

MSD makes ign boxes for multiple coils, that's all that's needed. The thing they didn't have is a way to retard that box from inside the car.

Thanks again Joe B

Re: Retard Timming

Ok, I have a Delteq and here are the options for timing controls:

1) Find an 'old' Crane TRC-1 for LT1s that modifies the EST signal to retard timing. It will play nicely with the Delteq, but it is also the ONLY timing retard control based on the EST signal I could find in months of searching as no-one else makes one and Crane decided a few years back to no longer make this particular model. In other words, this one is a lost cause...

2) Add a MSD DIS-4 iginition system. It also requires adding of the coil pack adapters. Supports a dual stage retard setup, but it only for retarding a given amount that you set on the ignition box itself, via a triggered line. In other words it is a'retard on demand' when you flip a switch. Pretty much designed as a nitrous retard feature, as in you activate it when you hit the juice.

3) Add a MSD Multi-Channel Boost Retard controller. Will work with or without a DIS box, allows you to map timing based upon boost. Laptop programmable, I don't believe there is a drivers-seat ability to change setting. They also offer a version that allows you to control extra injectors for fuel enrichment under boost.

None of the other devices out there will work with a DIS setup such as a Delteq.

Personally, I went with a DIS-4 Plus box, added in the coil adapters and a set of the MSD coils. I also put the billet opti-cap on when I put the Delteq in. For timing, I just program the PCM. I looked high and low for a Crane TRC-1 for LT1 apps at first, but to no avail... There are other ways to accomplish the same thing as needed with the TRC-1...
