Post NX vs. TNT

Just want to hear what you guys think. I have always heard that Nitrous Express is the best, but I hear good things about TNT too. Just let me know what you think and WHY. Thanks in advance.

Well I'll let ya know what i've seen and how i like my TNT kit. The TNT kit with a 150 shot took me from a 12.66@110 to an 11.19@124.59. So i deffinatly like the TNT kit. My buddy has the NX wet kit and he's had issues with surging. Actually another friend of mine with an LS1 Vette has an NX Progressive kit and he's had the same issues with surging. The only thing i don't like about the TNT kit is the plate itself. I don't feel that the N2O has enough time to atomize with it after the TB. We did a test of the nozzles on both my TNT kit and the NX kit and the NX kit is more of a shotgun effect, which means it shoots out in a narrower spray pattern which doesn't give it much time to atomize and will cause puddling in an LT1 anyways and has a tendancy to only effect the 2-4 rear cylinders 5,7.6, and 8. Which isn't very effective. Although with the NX kit set up to run about 6 inches in front of the Throttle body usually allows it to Atomize properly for better performance. The TNT nozzles on the other hand have more of a misting effect to them which in my opinion (which most of this post is with the exception of the testing we did do) has a better atomization then the NX shotgun effect. I ditched the plate for my TNT kit and mounted the nozzles in my intake elbow. Withthe TNT kit i only need to move mine ahead of the TB about 3-4 inches to make it work really well. Here's a couple pics of my set up.

The final decision is gonna be yours but i just wanted to let you know my expierence with both kits.

I can only give my point of view being a Nitrous Express customer. I've honesty heard nothing but good things about the guys at TNT as far as Customer Service, the same pretty much goes for Nitrous Express also (Can't say the same about a couple of the other *larger* companies).

The main difference I see though is Nitrous Express' definitive history of winning races on the higher levels. This goes along ways in my book. Call it being a Copy-Cat if you like, but I know that I have the same Technology as last season's champion of a class that probably has the most restrictive Nitrous rules anywhere. TNT isn't even on the map in this respect.

Also note that MANY people bring up that TNT systems make more power. Just make sure you fully understand that after comparing jet patterns for both, TNT's Dual Nozzle systems (LS1 & LT1) use a jet surface area greater then that of the Nitrous Express system. Combine that with a leaner N/F ratio, and its obvious where the power is coming from. More nitrous and less fuel equals More Power.... This isn't to say that the TNT system is unsafe. But just pointing out, that if you use that same mentality with an NX system, it will level things immediately..

Either choice you make, I'm sure will make you happy in the long run. Doesn't sem you can go *wrong* either way.

I prefer nozzles to a plate for the reasons already stated.

Thank you everybody for your replies. I am still trying to decide, and I am also looking at building a custom turbo setup. N2O is just so quick, easy and cheap compared to a turbo kit though. and 89LT1Formula your car is one of the main reasons that I am thinking about going with a N20 kit. If I ran an 11.1 I would just about crap my pants. If anyone has any more helpful advice, or any good or bad experiences I would LOVE to hear them. Thanks.

Man Aaron, we are gonna have some fun races when I get my car done. I am gonna go NX b/c I am running a carb and they produce better than the TNT kit. As for your LT1, I would go TNT, better nozzles are the main reason. And try not to mess your car up so fast this time..j/k. We need to catch up at CC sometime when I can make it.

I find it hard to believe that TNT makes more power. I'm, willing to bet that if you put a 52 N2O jet in a NOS, NX or TNT wet nozzle setup at 1000psi, they will all gain around 100 crank hp with a 31 fuel jet and low 40s fuel pressure if installed in the same car.

The amount of N2O is directly proportional to the jet area and pressure, and nothing anyone claims to the contrary will change that.

If your N2O setup is surging, you have definitely not installed it correctly, or you have fuel related problems.

It's my opinion that all the major systems are equally good, and that NONE of them offer a complete kit which has EVERYTHING you need. As a final piece of advice, remember that to make your motor live with N2O you need 3 things: FUEL, FUEL AND MORE FUEL

George, I think this goes hand in hand with what I said above. The TNT systems use two nozzles, but when you add the surface area of both jets, and compare them to a Nitrous Express system at a given power level, You'll see you have more jet.

Anybody wanna invest in my new Nitrous Company? We plan on using #52 jets for 50hp, #62 for 100, and #73 for 150. We should blow the doors off everyone at the same advertised hp level.

Just like the media, advertised things need to be taken with a grain of salt, and do your own research before purchase (which obviously is what this post is for. )
