Question Spark Retard from stock computer

I am going to use the OBDI computer to retard the spark for the NOS. I am going to retard the timing in the Traction Control Table. I am going to use the input for the trcation control to trigger the computer to retard the Timing. My question is How much timing to pull out. The stock computer will pull timing out every 1000 RPM. I can pull out a little timing out every 1000 RPM. I am going to turn the NOS on at 3000 RPM and Turn it off at 6100 RPM. I have a TNT nitrouse kit(WET KIT). I will be shooting it with 100HP. I have to figure out how much timing to pull out at 3000, 4000, 5000, 6000 RPM. Does anyone have any suggestion? I know pulling timing out this way sounds strange, but it should work better. Thanks for all the input!

Cool

I retard the timing 2-3 degrees per 50 hp, this is a normal amount.

I dont pull any timing for a 75 or 100 shot. I usually pull 1-2 degrees for 125 just to be safe, however I have run 125 a few times without timing pulled (I can adjust it from the driver seat) and have never had a problem.

I have messed with pulling timing on the 75 and 100 shot just to see what happens. I think I actually lost power when I pulled timing of those shots.

Some guys with stock timing tables do not pull any timing on up to a 100 hit, if you have added timing to your pcm I would pull at least 2 degrees per 50 hp, to be safe.

Cool

Thanks for the reply Guys! I noticed that some of you are running window switches. When do you turn the NOS on/OFF (RPM). Any other Tips?

On no lower than 3k, and if you don't want to spray thur the shift, shut it off a hundred rpm before the shift point, keep in mind your oem tachs are off, normally a few hundred rpm high. The pcm, trans and window switch should all see real time rpm.

Youll have better preformance spraying thru the shift points .....downside is wear and tear on the tranny.

As far as retarding timing with the traction control table goes, it sounds interesting but I dont see any advantages in doing it that way as apposed to the more direct way of pulling a couple of degrees in then Spark advance v rpm v map tables in the 3000+ rpm / 95kpa range.

You might first log some runs with the timing set where it is now. On my car the PCM retards timing itself.(Not sure why) when I'm running N2O. Doesn't retard any off the spray. Just a thought.
