Ignition box, and window switch?

I have a NOS kit, and recently had a problem with a backfire porting my MAF for me.

i would like to get a window switch and ignition box to make things a little safer.

What is a good budget system?

Re: Ignition box, and window switch?

I use the MSD window switch and the accell 300+ ignition. However, if your going to shoot over 100 shots, I'd get a digital MSD ignitino because it has built in timing retard.

Re: Ignition box, and window switch?

I have the Mallory window switch that has setable dials for on and off rpm levels. The MSD window switch required pills which are expense.

The Mallory Hyfire has all the options you'll need, single box, all digital

Here's one at Jegs

I mounted my box in the glove box. I havent had any problems with heat at all. It is stealth also. Check out my post on www.z28.com in the nitrous section. You will find pictures of my install.

What harness did you use to install it? Does mallory make one for the LT1 or did you just use the MSD harness?

Re: Ignition box, and window switch?

I have the 6853M Hyfire 6-AL....it doesnt retard timing does it? Will it just make spark better and have a rev limiter? I think I got the wrong one....I want the one posted above, lol  ---

I was planning on using it for my 96 w/ a 125 shot OR my 67' with a 142 supercharger....will it work with either!? What parts do I need to add to still use it? THANKS---

Re: Ignition box, and window switch?

I like the msd digital 6 box. I believe you can also hook a window switch into it. Here is a pic of how i mounted mine.

Pardon the mess that was during some winter cleaning. But if you look closely you can see where I took a ziz wheel and cut the wheel well knocked it back, welded in some metal, and placed the MSD box in its newly made home.

There is the completed engine compartment.

Re: Ignition box, and window switch?

On the Mallory 6cd box it says " Boost sensitive proportional ignition timing retard available with optional MAP sensor kit " . Do I need the MAP SENSOR KIT running the bottle or is that for turbo/supercharged "boosted" engines? Would I benefit from the timing retard with the bottle? Let me know , thanks ---

Re: Ignition box, and window switch?

the MAP is only for subercharged applciations, and yes you should retard timing on the bottle.

Re: Ignition box, and window switch?

The 6cd doesnt say it has anything but START UP timing retard. Can you add a retard switch or should I run the MSD 6 btm (can you add a window switch)?!

does it matter if its digital or analog?! ---

Re: Ignition box, and window switch?

I was happy with the performance of my mallory 685.. until it decided to quit on me coming home from work a few months after install! Smoke started coming out of the unit... I need to send it back to Mallory. Anyone know how much they charge to repair a shorts on the mainboard? I bought it new in box, but from a guy on this board, so I dont have a receipt.
