I need a diagram or schematic for wiring bottle heater...

I ran the wires up to where I have the switch mounted but I need to wire in a relay. Anybody have a diagram for this?

If nobody has a diagram can somebody just try and explain it to me. I have a good understanding of how it should work, just want to make sure it is right.

it is simple, you need a relay, the relay will have 4 pins

30 power in
87 heater out

85 control 1
86 control 2

For the 30 pin, connect to battary with 10 gauge wire, fused of course

For the 87, your "load" goes to the heater.

The 85 and 86, one goes to ground, the other to +12 when you want the heater on.

Connect the switch on the +12 side of the relay, and your set.

If your heater has a thermostat, or a pressure sender, connect that between the relay, and the ground, where it says "control" on the chart below.

+12-----Switch------relay------control-----ground.

Why would you need a relay?

If you are using a pressure/temperature switch you need to use a relay. Its always a good idea to use a relay instead of switching the main feed to the item.

most switches are not rated for 30 amps that a heater can draw
